Description
...DnD really isn't that complicated, but there is a learning curve. If it's your first time playing, use a pre generated fighter character. Simple.Sexy time in a few more pages. I swear!

Yeah. Lately I've been playing in a Pathfinder Campaign for a while on Saturdays and man do we have fun but also have had some Questionable things happen.

Yes They can especially when the Trox Barbarian becomes trapped by the Deck of many things and has to make a new character as his barbarian is now the king of swords

Sounds great! Haven’t encountered a deck of many things yet. Those things make me nervous.

And this is why I play games like Eye Of The Beholder and D&D Online.
They roll the dice, so you don't have to!

You save a lot of money on dice that way. I love dice, I want dice...but I don't need any more dice.

Almost like my first time playing D&D..... but I had a team of veteran D&D'ers telling me how to play cleric and do every thing. I was the best happy heally cleric I could be.... until the god of death Richard Nixon Terminator 3'ed me.

It really isn't. It certainly can be if you try to run before you can walk. I had a hard time starting out because I tried rolling my own character instead of starting with a pre-generated character.

Or a paladin. You are still a fighter, but you get access to buff spells. And healing! Tank tank tanktanktank.

Not a bad idea. And you can smite the crap out of your enemies!

DnD is easy to get inot when you are familiar with videogames like Final Fantasy and other RPGs.
Being familiar with table top games like the Warhammer games also helps.
I played Das Schwarze Auge (the black eye, german DnD).

DSA is translated as The Dark Eye. Because nobody wants a hero with a black eye. (Blaues Auge auf deutsch.)
That was my first one too. Right when it came out '84. Sadly I didn't get first printing, because that thing is worth a lot today.

I've always thought that rogues or monks were better for beginners. Fighters have loads of armor and weapons to manage where as the other two have less to manage.

StereoscopeComics In reply to ScarletRope [2019-10-04 19:47:47 +0000 UTC]
True. Actually, monk may very well be the simplest. All you gotta do is punch punch punch.

ScarletRope In reply to StereoscopeComics [2019-10-04 23:31:39 +0000 UTC]
Until Later levels it is literally just punch the guy twice while everyone else only hits once and cries.

Monk is definitely on my to play list but I’m kinda obsessed with Bard right now.

Bards can be pretty fun. I just prefer Warlocks and Sorcerers for my charisma casters.

Bards are definitely more support casters. Warlocks and Sorcerers definitely know how to put the hurt on.

Unless you go divine soul Sorcerer or celestial Warlock. They can support pretty well.

My next character will definitely be more combat oriented. I'm currently playing a Bard from the College of Swords, so he's more combat oriented, but he still spends more time casting crowd control and healing spells.
Thinking of Playing a War Cleric next...or a Ranger...or a Barbarian...or a Sorcerer...

There are so many fun classes.
Though I personally can't wait for next month so I can play a sweet steam punk boi/gurl

Agreed. My first character was a monk, my second was a rogue who specialized in crossbows. I figured I'd learn to use magic in my third play-through.

ScarletRope In reply to Usyra [2019-10-04 18:55:17 +0000 UTC]
I started as a Rogue and then made a Sorcerer.
I still love both classes to this day though Rogues will always be my favorite class.

Same, though a lot of that comes from my love of the Assassins Creed series.
