Description
A request drawn for Xanfowler on FurAffinity of his character Xan and a new character I've called Rebantee. She is loosely based on Tenebrae from Tales of Symphonia: Journey to the New World.

Xan placed the offering on the grass in front of him and waited hopefully, studying the creature carefully. To his joy the black dog came trotting over, accepting his gift and his company. Tentatively he reached out his hand to stroke the beast’s black coat, tracing the coloured markings with his finger. It eyed him as it ate, but allowed his fingers to touch its body and stroke through its fur.

Rebantee was glad for the company. It had been too long since any pilgrims had come to the temple and even longer since she had allowed someone to touch her. As the guardian she had been duty bound to protect the sacred grounds, but now the gods had left this place and left her all alone. In truth she was guardian in name only, protecting a ruin that was a shadow of its former glory. Finally she saw how empty her life had become.

To Xan's surprise the beast suddenly pressed closer, its head rubbing against his stomach, as if listening to his body.
