Description This didn't turn out exactly the way I wanted, but at the same time I think it looks cooler that what I had imagined. I really learned a lot by experimenting with all these different colors. On to next piece!

Inspired by Messier 17

Painted with the programs Photoshop and Sai.
(I get asked this a lot, yes I painted it from scratch. Base texture and stars with Photoshop. Lots of detailing with Sai. No I did not put any shapes in here on purpose.)

I really nebula(s). It looks massive. The blue color is great--really vibrant and eye-catching. The black wispyness added to the top is a nice touch. The stars are good, I like the ones in the bottom left-hand corner the most.
