As others have said, stunning; and THE most extreme example of "chainmail bikini" I have ever seen!
At least the classic one protects the heart. But this surely looks great, although not comfortable.

I love this piece. I was furious when I recieved my first copy of "Arrival of the Obsidian Champion" at the Celestial release and found out they hadn't commisioned you to remake the card in the image of the current Obsidian Champion like they did with "Arrival of the Emerald Champion" and Jimen. I felt pretty cheated by AEG on that one. Great work! I hope to see her again someday if she manages to live that long (and hasn't already been killed off)

I want to see the thing she's just killed who's blood is on her hands! But yes, wow, she's one hardcore (vampire?) lady. I have vague wonderings on how she can see...might I assume some sort of blindsight?

I was playing with the juxtaposition of sexy and dangerous. Having a warrior or monster with no eyes, (or covered eyes,) seems to add a quality of unease. She doesn't need to see you. She can feel you, and there's nowhere you can hide.
But I didn't want her to be all business. Or all monster. Even though it can be a bit of a cliche to portray an armored vixen with bare skin everywhere you'd want armor most, I felt that for her, it would add to the character. Signaling further those heightened other senses, creating a lure, or tease, for her victims, and adding a touch of sensuality to her violence. She doesn't act out of necessity; she enjoys what she does.

Well, if that's what you were going for, you nailed it spot on. The fact that her eyes are covered lends her an air of menace and makes her seem like an unstoppable huntress. If eyes are used to make a character more personable, then taking them away gives the opposite effect and makes her seem like an unstoppable force of nature, or the unnatural.
While I really don't like the 'chain mail bikini' look myself, I have to agree that in this instance it enhances the character immensely. If she's also a vampire, it makes me feel that she simply doesn't care about covering those areas because she would simply heal any wounds taken almost immediately.
All in all, this is a bloody amazing painting, and I mean. Every. Word.

sorry to jump in here, but you just got me thinking, it feels to me like she doesn't need the armor so much for protection but more for it's offensive 'spikiness'. She looks like you'd never get near her to make any kind of physical attack, armor around her middle (waist/stomach/chest) would serve only to hinder her movement. In fact, perhaps you'd never see her coming, let alone in time enough to make any attempt at an attack, or defense for that matter.
Anyway, amazing, quite terrifying!

the armor, the hair, the skin... the realism u achieve in your work is amazing, and i particulary liked how the armor press her breasts, the shading u gave them its so great it looks real.

Everything is great and the idea of Body painting in her abs is cool, after all this is L5R, some guys have tattoos maded with the blood of a god and ink and can spit fire through their mouth. !

The way the light reflects off of her helmet plates is amazing. And the blood on her fingers looks real enough to... I don't know... wipe off with a clean towel or something. Great job.

I totally love the hair. The rest is awesome too, but I love the style of the hair. It really adds this nice soft touch to the dangerous, bloody pic. It's a nice accent.

I also love the hair, but I think the amount of detail in the helmet kinda distracts from it too much. That's probably my only complaint about this piece though. Most everything else is amazing.
