Description Commission for Nina's (*Prussian ) original character for the Mass Effect fan fiction universe.

This is a brief description of Armineh from Nina:

Her original name was Armineh Regin, but she's had a pretty complicated history. An asari Martiarch called Assina discovered the human race and decided to manipulate them instead of telling the council, eventually kidnapping Armineh and genetically modifying her to the point where she now has a lifespan similar to an asari. She's 206 and looking good for her age.

She goes by the codename Valkyrie, a mocking reference to her past Assina's experiments were never completed for various reasons and now her daughter has taken over and dragged Armineh back in for more. The image is just after those experiments, showing the cybernetics.

Valkyrie a mocking name for this woman?

if she is she from the Viking era then she should beΒ wellΒ over a thousand years old by the year 2157 unless this is way before humans officially joined the galactic scene after the first contact war

I was thinking she was some sort of cybernetically-enhanced quarian at first (hence no enviro-suit - cybernetics provide an immune system perhaps?)

Nice work!

Amazing and heartbreaking, the way her face and her whole posture betrays her turmoil. And the glimmer of cybernetics through her eyes and through the scars only adds to it. I especially love the wrinkle on her forehead, between the eyebrows.

Poor girl.

I am amazed at your level of talent. Inspires me to dust off the sketchbook, dig out the pencils and re hone my skills.

What I love the most has to be your use of lighting and color. Brilliant!

Wait. Left ring finger was removed? Sounds like they don't want her getting married.

Which apparently didn't stop her from having a daughter.

Those little glows on her face and eyes are really incredible. It has me entranced. Fantastic work.

Yeah I freelance full time, anywhere from t-shirt designs, childrens books to facebook games, iphone games, comics, personal commissions and just recently I teamed up with Dream Powered Games for a first person shooter.

I can't complain but I'd really like to focus on one thing for a change, something I could devote my time to and work on for several years you know? (a movie or game) Something that would help me develop a sense of style. Sometimes it's difficult to go from bubbly cartoons to a detailed dragon you know? I'd like to surround myself with creative team so I can improve as an artist.

CenturyKing In reply to stevegoad [2010-11-25 01:07:05 +0000 UTC]

So do I, although I am young and still not done with high school, (I'm a senior) and I want to learn all I can about life as an artist. And learn from that to improve my skills for a better future, career and imagination... lol
Hey, don't worry about bragging, I think you deserve that job at Dream Powered. I say keep working hard and you'll finally get your big break!

Hey quick question, have you ever created a story? Or did you ever wanted to?

I ask this because I have two stories under work as we speak. And someday I want to release it to the public as a comic novel or animated movie. (My characters are in my DA page if you’re wondering)

Think of it this way, you can't really live a mainstream life when you have a lifespan so unnatural to your species.
You're constantly living underground, you have to be careful with who you're dealing with and your friends and family die pretty quickly compared to you.
Not to mention that your DNA would be highly sought after if you were ever found out.

I don't know about you but after a while I'd really hate living for centuries on end.

phildog In reply to BunnyisCthulhu [2010-11-21 20:34:15 +0000 UTC]

Okay, first of all, talk to some old people. Friends and family dying is something that you get use to. As for the police, and not living a mainstream life, so what? Undocumented workers manage to do it, most while supporting a family.

...and while you might be a little angst and distraught for a bit, seeing all the people around you get old and feeble will make you pretty thankful for what you have.

Face it, the only reason you're comfortable with your mortality right now is because you don't have to face it. Go talk to people who are dying, or getting old. life is precious, and dying sucks.

Still, love it. Very beautiful in that bittersweet kinda way.
