Commission for " 'sThis painting was a bit of a challenge to me because I had some freedom in it but not much. I mainly went off the direction from ~flatlinedreams who was very detailed oriented in the way he wanted it. I don't mind this one bit because it's great to see something from a different perspective, this only makes me stronger as an artist.
So I asked ~flatlinedreams what the meaning behind this piece is and to which he responded:
"Some individuals on the Bioware forums, myself among them, believe that, if Samara were to ever have a romantic moment with Shepard, it would amount to a quiet time spent together, and nothing more. This is the scene that came to my mind, in trying to imagine how that might look."

I juuust started playing Mass Effect, finished ME1 this past weekend, so I'm finding all this art full of spoilery bits but THIS IS BEAUTIFUL SO I DON'T EVEN CARE.

I never was intrested in romancing Samara, but to have a moment like this, just sitting or meditating, or comtipalting the universe would have been very nice and allowed me to connect to her character more. Not saying I don't love her as a character, but this scene would have been nice.

i had actually hoped in mass effect 3, we would see samara for the first time in her life worry for herself and the ppl around her and see a emotional side where she does love Shepard and they spend a night together, oh well, ppl can still imagine

I say I think you've captured this beautifully, the serene feeling is boundless and the bond between Shepard and Samara feels strong. Amazing work, very well done.

Man I wished so hard you could at least have a heart felt moment with her. Didnt need to love, just a moment where two burdened souls find solace in the support of each other.

Yeah I was hoping to have her as a full LI in ME3, there is a group im in on the BSN about this.

We in this group feel she should have been a full LI as well as a squadmate. If you feel the same way join up and spread the word! Samara needs as much support as she can get.

love this piece you made an excellent job mate and I hope we can romance her in ME3 she interesting to me. Her character is well done and I mean facing extinction to a galactic scale i think we can say 'screw the rules i'm sheprad' at least once x3.

This is a truly wonderful spiritual piece. I myself find Samara's romantic line one of the most compelling even if not full-fledged.
And this instantly reminded me how Samara had requested a room that overlooks an empty void -- a perfect place for meditating. The nebula view is fantastic, but I am most impressed by the characters' posture, how they just sit and hold hands, and the diagonal positioning of the angle. Beautiful.

This is so beautiful on so many levels. The passion and intensity of staring in to an empty void, but the intimacy of doing it together with someone you love and trust, and care about. This piece is SO emotional, I could stare at it for hours. Very, very well done.

I've no idea who they are, but this is so beautiful. They're holding hands gingerly, they are not relaxed, but at ease with each other. It's like they're gonna get interrupted any minute.

This is beautiful on so many levels. I love the way it looks, visually. Its perfect!
And I love the way it tells its story. Someone who isn't familiar with Samara's character, might not see anything behind a pic of two people sitting quietly next to each-other, in the dark room, looking at the endless cosmos and holding hands... which is the only thing they can do.
