*Edit* Thank you so much for the DD!Oil on Canvas of a Grackle in a stream. 24"x36"
The funny thing about this painting is I went to the Fort Worth Zoo to get some animal shots for potential paintings and as I was walking into the zoo I saw this grackle sitting there. I took the shot and out of all the photos I took while in the zoo,(which was probably around 80) this is the one I painted.

Very nice, thanks for the tip. I think in the photo I used for a reference it even looked bright but that could have been from the reflections in the water. It's funny but I live in Texas and a lot of people hate these birds, I've always thought they looked awesome how they look black but when the light hits them they give off a purple ting.

I think they are very beautiful, too. And intelligent! Their eyes are creepy, though.
I can see why people don't like them. I think they feed on the fledglings of other bird races...

Absolutely amazingly done water!!! I love the composition, and the fact that you used such an "small" detail, and turned it into something like this. The leaf and the small color accent on it are wonderful. I love it.

This really catches the eye. I love the way the bird is not dominating the picture and yet somehow it's still the centre of attention.

I love this. A lot. It looks like it was so time consuming to make, and the result is just amazing. I especially like the subtle things you've done, like the little ripples behind the bird and around every rock that juts out of the water.

Wow, I think this is really amazing. Especially the pebbles under the water and how you can see some areas clearer and other areas are foggy because of the reflection yet in both parts there is till the same amount of detail. The ripples give the water a nice suttel quality as well.
