Description
Dante is a white haired half-human, half-demon badass from the successful action video game series Devil May Cry.Spyro is a small purple dragon from the successful platforming games Spyro. The music was composed by Stewart Copeland.
But do these two characters have in common?
They were back-stabbed by their publishers, developers and right-holders with horrible reboots.
Devil May Cry redefine action games with it's stylish hack and slash gameplay. Dante was one the coolest characters in a video game. He laughs at the face and danger he loves killing demons. One of the few video game characters that gain both fanboys and fangirls.
But sadly the next game DmC, by Ninja Theory, was a complete departure with dirty settings, slow-looking combat so far and worst of all an ugly pathetic git who is supposed to be Dante. (O_O)
Blame Keiji Inafune for this. He wants games to be bland.
The first three Spyro games for the original Sony Playstation, that were created by Insomniac Games, were and still is considered possibly the best platformers that rival to Mario.
Sadly Insonmiac Games left Universal Interactive/Vivendi/Sierra/whatever to make the Ratchet & Clanks games on the PS2. Spyro began to suffer a major decline with the god-awful Enter the Dragonfly.
A Hero's Tail was an improvement but there was too many changes which it an equal betrayal to the original formula. They then decided to reboot the franchise into the Legend of Spyro which was crap. Spyro looks like a doop (or derp) head and who the fuck is Cynder-bitch?
Activision currently holds right the franchise (along with Crash) but we never see over beloved Sony mascot ever again... (T_T)
While the Devil May Cry is officially raped, Spyro has been sucking for nearly a decade and it will continue to under the thumb of Bobby Kotick.
R.I.P.
Spyro (1998-2001)
Dante (2001-2009)

I don't give a damn about Cynder. If they bring the series back to its roots they boot out Cynder which is fine because she's too much of an annoyance. The original PS1 Spyro games stand as true platforming games but Vivendi/Sierr/Activision keeps fucking it up so I loath the Legend of Spyro as cancer.
We hardly have any iconic characters anymore but Lightning is a great help 'cus nowadays video games consist of bald white generic american males with guns but no personality or emotion like INfamous, Prototype, Mass Effect, Red Faction Guerilla, Matt Hazard and just about nearly every damn western video game nowadays.

I've played the original's too and I love them to bits. But when things get tough I move on or find another outlet. Cynder to me was the least of my worries.
That is a lie. I just listed two characters that are iconic and both are girls. Want an iconic character for platforming? Try sly raccoon Ratchet and Clank, Jak and Daxter, Rayman etc.
You do know that you can have a female Shepherd in Mass effect 2? How about Lara Croft? Did you forget her? Heavenly Sword? Hell Bayonetta?
Look beyond the usual and you'll find a world full of characters that stand tall.

Can give your female Shepard long hair and different armor(!)?
I'm into the too obvious (Lara Croft), I'm not into furries (Ratchet and Clank and Sly) and not into bland (Heavenly Sword) and I'm not into 40 year old cougars (Bayonetta). I'll stick to strong yuri semes.

I think so. I haven't played the game... RPG's are not my type. I read plenty of magazines...
Not into R&C? Aww... your missing out on some great humor and one of the best villains around.
Yuri themes? *scratches head* Since when did strong video game ladies indicate themes of yuri? I'm a bit puzzled...

To be fair I did played the Ratchet and Clank games. Where do think I get my deviantART ID from? The first three on the PS2 are the best in the series. Never bothered with the rest of the series afterwords.
I love anime and I think it plays an important role in video games. Lightning just looks like a lesbian.

I never noticed. What can I say not the most observent person in the world.
A crack in time has some great moments.
I agree to that. Since Japan pretty much 'created' the world of gaming in general.
I don't think she's a lesbian. But that Snow sure looks gay.
But that's just me.

Keiji Inafune should stick to Megaman; it's what he's good at...as far as I know.

He left Capcom after lashing out at Japanese games. I assume some the developers at Capcom were hurt by his rants which got him sacked.

*weep*
Two of my favorite games, that's for sure. My love of Spyro was killed with Enter The Dragonfly. I have one word regarding that: GLITCH. EFFING GLITCH.
I could not even get out of a level to continue the game. He just floated midair, filling me with inexpressible rage.

I totally feel the same. I stopped buying Spyro games after Spyro: A Hero's Tail (I bought Spyro: Shadow Legacy before this game). If the upcoming Spyro game doesn't turn out to be anything better, I might as well purchase Mario and Kirby games instead. Yeah, I totally miss Steward Copeland's musics and songs as well as what makes the first three Spyro games awesome.
Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly may be the worst Spyro game out of the original series but at least the music were still composed by Steward Copeland and the voice cast were still the same from Spyro 3: Year of the Dragon, for instance, Tom Kenny still provides the voice for Spyro. Uh-huh, Tom Kenny makes a smashing job at voicing Spyro and other characters from one of my all-time favourite cartoons, The Powerpuff Girls.

Also, how come Keiji Inafune wants games to be bland? He was the desginer for Street fighter 2, one of the best games in history, The Megaman series (all of them), and resident evil 2 4 and 5. I understand your pain but for god's sake, HOW WAS THE GAMEPLAY?! The most important aspect of the game is the GAMEPLAY. I played Devil may Cry 4 and it was really fun. But I also played the demo for Heavenly sword, and hey, I had fun. So I kinda have 70% expectations of this game. And once it comes out, I'll play the game and tell you all that it's good C:<

To tell you my opinion, I actually like the new Spyro games. I have the two last Legend of Spyro games (Eternal Night and Dawn of the Dragon) and I would love if they continued the story. Of course, there's always room for improvement. I also had a lot of fun with the Classic Spyro games and feel nostalgic just thinking about them, although I've only played Ripto's Rage/Gateway to Glimmer and Year of the Dragon, but I think they were a little too cartoony. It's a matter of tastes, I guess.
I can't say much about Devil May Cry. I'm not a fan of the series and I've only played Devil May Cry 3, although it was fun. But from what you're saying about the new DMC, it sounds bad.

If you like the new Spyro games that's fine but in my opinion the new Spyro looks dopey (it's looks like he's been smoking some) and it's not as cartoony as you think (maybe with everything in the post-PS1 era) and the music in the original trilogy made it more wonderful and the voice acting was more intelligent for some the plot lines.

I totally agree with you there. In fact, I did play Spyro 3: Year of the Dragon on my PlayStation 2 during Chinese New Year this year 'cause I'm sure we all know what year it is right now.
I've heard that Stewart Copeland composed music for the cartoon, The Life and Times of Juniper Lee.
