Description
Dante is a white haired half-human, half-demon badass from the successful action video game series Devil May Cry.Spyro is a small purple dragon from the successful platforming games Spyro. The music was composed by Stewart Copeland.
But do these two characters have in common?
They were back-stabbed by their publishers, developers and right-holders with horrible reboots.
Devil May Cry redefine action games with it's stylish hack and slash gameplay. Dante was one the coolest characters in a video game. He laughs at the face and danger he loves killing demons. One of the few video game characters that gain both fanboys and fangirls.
But sadly the next game DmC, by Ninja Theory, was a complete departure with dirty settings, slow-looking combat so far and worst of all an ugly pathetic git who is supposed to be Dante. (O_O)
Blame Keiji Inafune for this. He wants games to be bland.
The first three Spyro games for the original Sony Playstation, that were created by Insomniac Games, were and still is considered possibly the best platformers that rival to Mario.
Sadly Insonmiac Games left Universal Interactive/Vivendi/Sierra/whatever to make the Ratchet & Clanks games on the PS2. Spyro began to suffer a major decline with the god-awful Enter the Dragonfly.
A Hero's Tail was an improvement but there was too many changes which it an equal betrayal to the original formula. They then decided to reboot the franchise into the Legend of Spyro which was crap. Spyro looks like a doop (or derp) head and who the fuck is Cynder-bitch?
Activision currently holds right the franchise (along with Crash) but we never see over beloved Sony mascot ever again... (T_T)
While the Devil May Cry is officially raped, Spyro has been sucking for nearly a decade and it will continue to under the thumb of Bobby Kotick.
R.I.P.

Ha ha, I love how you distinct yourself. :3
Well, I can be reasoned with, too. I guess my rage has always been transient -good thing too- when I'd first seen that trailer back in 2010. I've calmed down now.
Though I never played Spyro. I loved MS2 though! And I haven't played FF XIII truth be told but I have no problem with it or the franchise. The only thing I'd like to see changed is the fact they give you only one way to go. I'd like to see it giving you the ability to choose a path.
But, if the argument is valid...!

haha, well, i have to admit i love Devil May Cry to death, and i'm sorry to say, but DmC looks good for me. srue his hair is not the long sexy white we all know and love, but hey it's Dante. and i still love Devil May Cry for all games.
now Spyro on the other hand. your right...it died. i have to say that the new Spyro for New Beginning was OK, and it was playable...but Skylanders...GOD WHAT HAVE YOU DONE DX<
it's terrible! it looks like Spyro, but disfigured DX<
i miss the old Insomniac games. Rachet and Clank kinda lost it, and i miss spyro. stuid Actavision....

At this point, I no longer care about where Spyro is going. Sure, I exploded with anger when Skylanders was announced but what the hell can I do to actually change things? I don't have the qualifications to even join Activision in terms of how to make games.
Skylanders to aimed for a new generation of kids, not older fans because Spyro was always a game series for kids. Devil May Cry on the other hand has no excuse, especially with Ninja Theory's pretentious attitude towards the classics but at least now it's finally confirmed a HD collection of the PS2 Devil May Cry games will be released on PS3 and Xbox 360 because there is no way the PSone Spyro games will be released on EU PS Store at this point.
My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is a good alternative to classic Spyro in terms of atmosphere.

inafune left capcom literally a month after DmC was announced and Kamiya left in 2006
and here's a reason why capcom had ninja theory work on DmC
In an interview published on the videogame blog Kotaku, lead producer Alex Jones explained that Capcom contacted Ninja Theory because of the good impression their previous game Heavenly Sword had on Capcom staff. Jones stated that Capcom executives appreciated the way Ninja Theory builds games around the characters and not vice-versa: in the interview he stated that "Outside of creating just amazing looking art, Ninja Theory really do embed narrative in their games in a way that is relatively sophisticated, Japanese game design also starts with a character and then builds a game out from there."

But Sony AND Ninja Theory dismissed the game as a failure.
Devil May Cry never ever needed some complex narrative. Why now? It would be better if Devil May Cry 5 would just be like all the other installments because most games nowadays are bland military FPS games with either gray or brown graphics and bald ugly or generic white males. We need more iconic characters more than ever such as Dante, Kratos, Lara Croft, Raziel and Ezio.
I have no respect for Ninja Theory for not only turning Dante into a generic punk, but for also insulting the original Dante by saying he's not cool anymore... When did WE ever say that? When did critics ever say that? Dante was loved by both fans and critics in the same sense as Lara Croft, Master Chief and Mario. Why take an icon and change him for the worse?
Ninja Theory even insulted all the previous installments saying they were never good to begin and believing THEIR game will be the best Dante game ever and of course the upcoming film based on THEIR game. They're not getting the hint that nobody likes this new Dante so please don't try and shove him down our throats!
As for the story, we ALREADY know Dante's origins in Devil May Cry 3, why explain it again? I bet in DmC, Dante is a prototype for some super army with some super drug or maybe Dante was genetically altered, scrapping all thoughts of Dante being half-demon and what we Dante fighting were in fact robots.

What activision did with spyro was bad, i agree.
But Ninja Theory is a good dev, Heavenly Sword and Enslaved were both well revieved under rated games with stylish combat. The fact that NT is so good with combat is why Capcom choose them for the reboot.
Stop being so buttfrustrated that Capcom changed how he looks, you haven't seen any gameplay of it, all you have is a cinematic trailer and you're saying it's going to be terrible?
"OMG, I'm 12 and I'm not mature enough to embrace change." Pathetic.

Heaven Sword's combat was terrible. It was an unsatisfying red light-green light type of combat where you have to counter enemies with a specific attack. I really hated it.
Aside from the emo git, the combat looks slow. Devil May Cry was always known for redefining hack and slash. Where's the hack and slash. All I see was slow gun shots, punches and a car being thrown about. Limbo City looks bland and depressing unlike Fortuna from Devil May Cry 4.
Bottom line: It's a step backward.

I know. Westerners developers have a habit of making pointless developer diaries to give insight with boring talk, sometimes before actually unveiling the game itself yet they ignore complaints about the game.
Ninja Theory isn't exactly good at making hack and slash games. Heaven Sword had this annoying red light green light counter system going on with unsatisfying combat so how can they evolve a game franchise that redefine hack and slash? They don't.
They think the game has no "innovation" unless the protagonist bland, generic, boring or ugly and that's why they messed up an icon but blame Keiji Inafune for wanting this change.

Hideki Kamiya was director of the original Devil May Cry but was not involved the rest of the series. He worked in Clover Studios and was responsible for Viewtaful Joe and Okami but Capcom closed down Clover studios but Hideki joined Platinum Games (which consists of former members of Clover studios) and worked in the action game Bayonetta. He was not impressed with the new look either.

Establishing a connection between Vergil and Nero would be interesting but let's just hope Ninja Theory will listen to criticism and clean up Dante (get rid out of that smoking habit would be a good start and get back Dante's VA, Reuben Langdon, from 3 and 4 so he would actually sound like Dante)

I couldn't give two hoots about DMC, Spyro on the other I do. New games were to be honest, boring mostly because of the gameplay and the way the handled the story. Cynder I thought was cool and the only redeeming feature of the whole series. A no non sense, ass kicking, mutant powered bitch whom I enjoyed playing as. Fun fact the Spyro series both old and new have only had two playable female characters. Both were strong willed ladies whom I loved dearly.

How ever I'll still stubbornly stand by my statement of one Cynder the dragoness.
