Eeeh, I'm not sure. I think the cartoony appearance is really one of its strengths; it stays lighthearted and lets weird things happen, while keeping dark/serious thing surprising and fresh. So while I do quite enjoy this sort of fan art, I don't think the official franchise would benefit much from it.
