Tatanga is one of those Mario is one of those villains that most people don't really know exist. He was the second true villain if you do not count Wart was actually a borrowed villain from the Japanese game Dream Factory: Doki Doki Panic. Tatanga first starred in Super Mario Land, where he kidnapped Princess Daisy of Sarasaland (a sand kingdom similar to the Mushroom Kingdom). He later appeared in Super Mario Land 2: The 6 Golden Coins, but in a much smaller role.

He is what Bowser is to Peach, but for Daisy. Which with Daisy being Luigi's Peach, I guess some fans believe he is Luigi's enemy, that or King Boo. Tatanga is a purple alien who uses machines to fight the Mario bros.

One of my passions back when I did pixel art all the time was to take a character from one game and make him into a boss of another game. Tatanga as I mention above was in Super Mario Land, but these sprites would work in Super Mario Adance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3. It fits the style perfectly.
