Description This is a preview of a character for my final uni film.(unrendered)

Below is a link to my Demo clip (basically to show my what the film will look like and to show the tutors that it's do-able) When you get to photobucket, click the full screen option if u want (it's video by the way)

[link]

(deviant art was reading some parts of the link as smilies..but I've now fixed it?)

This was created in a few days so it was all abit rushed.
The film is sort of weird and silly it contains a kid, a dinosaur and a Ball?? (havn't made the kid yet)

The dino is based on Syntarsus/Megapnosaurus . I wanted it to be a small theropod but not a feathered one (feathers take ages to make/control/render. So I went for a coelophysid which there is still the option to not feather it.

It's based proportionally on Greg Pauls skeletal.

D= I am left speechless. I've recently tried animating myself, and while it doesn't turn out too bad, this is just, so beyond what I did. The movements, they're so . . . god, they just look real. Now I hear you use Maya mostly? How would you say that compares to Blender? I'm only 13 right now, so I don't want to go ahead and buy it, but I'm just wondering if I should save up some money for the future. And, again, excellent job!

Thanks for the kind words! I havn't tried blender before so I can't really comment. I have only tried a few software packages, but I know Maya the best. It seems like a faily decent program and a lot of people in the industry use it, so I'd advise it. But it's probably best to ask around.

Wow! The Syntarsus's movements look more realistic than some of the "professional" animations I've seen on TV. Good job! ^^

This is outstanding! Wonderful job! (and good idea about not doing a more advanced, feathered theropod.) Keep up the awesome work. I'd love to see more.

Thank you , I origanally did want to do a feathered dromeosaur, but i did some tests and it is really hard to do. The wings are especally hard as they have maually animated so they don't clash with each other when the arms move.

Feathers (and fur, hair, and the like) can be a real pain to animate. Maybe one day you'll master that. But it's wise to take it in steps. This is terrific, again.
