There were a hundred problems with it. Shatner's direction, Gene's original plot summary, the lack of support from ILM... every stage of that movie's development was a perfect storm of chaos.

Too many marshmallons make for an explosive combination. I'd better row, row, row my boat to a safe distance.

Thank you. Friends are hard to come by and even harder to keep. That means a lot. I just figured you viewed me as someone wasting you're time since you weren't responding to the notes and I didn't see the point in wasting my time with someone that didn't seem to want to acknowledge me. I think it would be awesome to learn some things from you. You obviously have a lot you can teach. I want you to feel free to chat anytime and it doesn't always have to be art related. It can be about anything. I like to know the people I talk to. Even if you're having a bad day or struggling with a decision feel free. I don't really care for superficial stuff because it's not real. I can always use a good friend so again thank you.

You're welcome and please pose a question anytime. Truthfully I'm in an out of here sporadically, and when someone poses a heartfelt question I want to be able to allocate my attention and reply thoughtfully. It may take me a while, but I will respond. Regards--

It is. The title is my sarcasm for the one of the lines Kirk says in the film about Spock's "brother-brother".

When Kirk orders everyone to initiate "emergency landing plan-B", Scott's reaction and the expression on Sulu's face just after he says "actually it's my first attempt" at landing a shuttle without a tractor beam and Gen. Kord's nervous groan still make me chuckle.
And Kirk and Spock's interaction when they get into the turbo lift is too funny.

There were a lot of great scenes in that movie. For example the 'row row row your boat' scene at the very end. It was basically a serious movie with funny scenes thrown in.

Yeah, I read that with the success of IV and the humorous aspect of the situation the studio demanded that more "funny scenes" be added to V. Shatner original ideas for the story were far more severe and controversial than the final script.

Everyone doesn't give Shatner a lot of credit for what he did. I do because he accomplished a hard task. Nimoy did the same thing with The Voyage Home. I give him credit because he managed to take a serious plot line and add humor into it.

Yeah, the studio really held him back from his true vision of the story. I've seen interviews with Shatner and Harve Bennett where they both said that the studio cringed when the subject of God and the devil came up and immediately asked for changes to the story. At one point early on the idea was that the creature on the planet would actually be the devil then it was changed to giant rock creatures. Budget constraints took that away so he was left with the floating head.
He's even asked permission for a special edition with better effects and a fully realized version of what he actually had in mind for the conclusion. He was turned down though.
