After being unceremoniously dropped on some doorstep of somepony in the woods, it was apparent that he was born alone with no parents to love him. This doorstep was actually an empty home--the home of the former Daring Do. But she had moved a while ago, without telling anyone and without a trace. So the grunts of Dr. Caballeron were doing their rounds, seeing when (and if) she would come back...only to find a wailing, baby foal. They took it in for ransom, and presenting Caballeron with him. Ecstatic, he waited for Daring Do to come and rescue it. And he waited. And waited. And waited. During this time he felt a strange affection for the child, and was actually quite angry at A.K. Yearling's neglect of the poor thing. He told the baby graphic adventures and triumphs, took him wherever he went....and he soon came to realize even if DD came to take him, there was no way he would give him back. This was his son now. And he would grow up to be an incredible leader of the underground.

Wonderworks was a great kid growing up, always eager to listen to Cabelleron and taking note of all of his negotiation tactics and ways to pick a lock. Even if others saw him as a criminal, he knew that him and his goons were more like a family, and he couldn't be prouder. Some of his best days were spent squatting in apartments while on the run from Gladmane or watching in awe the way his father got along with temple guardians so well. Although he wasn't disatisfied, Wonderworks asked why they had to live this way On many trips he had seen the high life; like when they had money for a great hotel room or a first class bunker on the train. His father responded,"Equestria wasn't made for us to do what we want, but for what they want... I'm sure you'll get it one day." He was truly an honorable man, from when he was a colt to an adolescent horse.

One fated day, said Cabelleron was in Canterlot for an auction (okay, maybe it was a rigged auction) for a rather pretty gem he heard about. But while waiting in line to get in, he was arrested at the scene for assaulting police, attempted escape, death threats, resisting authority, attempted theft, and conspiracy to fraud. He was only guilty of the last thing at the time, but the unicorns whispering and scooting away from him hadn't cared. Apparently, asking why he was getting arrested and saying, "You can't arrest me" was a threat and would get him put in fucking prison for an indefinite amount of time.

This made Wonderworks furious. He got it. He finally got it. Enraged, burning and blistering with anger and just contempt for society. He always knew about the looks he got with his father when they walked around, and his father explained "they're scared of the work we do" and "the horns on their head are a free pass in this world." Wonderworks had heard all the stories of Cabelleron being in an orphanage for the longest time, only to watch all the unicorn and pegasus kids get snatched up before he did. When he saw him abandoned in the same way, he couldn't pass him up. The fact was that unicorns merely tolerated sharing the land with earth ponies. Wonderworks saw a consistent trend of the Earth ponies being poorer and the unicorns not deserving the riches. It was whatever. But now they had taken his father, and he was going to change everything.

Using what his father left behind, Wonderworks builds a cause, builds a personal little army of others who are interested. Things weren't about crime anymore, it was about making war, destroying the world of unicorns that merely allowed earth ponies and pegasi to live in it. The problem is unicorns have magic, and any unicorn could simply study to be a god if they wanted to. They've gotten used to being held in high regard because of their ability to channel magic and finding new ways to apply it to everything. New ways to make materials, new ways to make food...new ways to take jobs away from earth ponies, it felt like. Soon they would have to depend on the unicorns for everything. So obviously....we just have to take the magic away from them. Even if it's one by one. Even its by force. It's the earth pony's turn to use it and put the unicorns to shame.
