Description
Alright. Here's the Batman picture I have been working on.Inspired by Jim Lee's work with him.
I finally got around to finish inking it
I have to admit I was a bit nervy inking this picture as I was sure I was going to stuff up somewhere, especially with all the buildings in the background.
All done with various sized pens.
For those that are interested, the pencil drawing is here, [link]
I think it looks ok
I'd be interested to hear what you guys think.

the ears need to be bigger bigger !
looks good expect the shoulders they are a bit too narrow for his frame especially with those arms

Thanks.
I am actually OK with the ears, the arms are definitely off though... I didn't really notice it until I coloured it.

i prefer my batmans ears to be huge ( i blame jim aparo for that ) instead of the tiny ones miller ( remember when miller used to be good ? ) or lee draw him with
makes him look too much like daredevil
well that is what editing is for i suppose

Oh I don't disagree with you, I remember I think it was Simon Bisley (not sure if I spelt that right) did some really cool work with Batman and gave him some massive ears.
As for the editing. I tend to just leave my traditional stuff alone, if I did it digitally I think I probably would have tried to fix it.

sam kieth drew a soem huge bat ears too
so did kelley jones but i never liked jones work much it was a bit too grotesque ( just look at the cover of detective comics 665 to see what i mean ..brr )

I like Batman's pose in this piece. He looks like he is ready to jump off a building and start gliding with his cape.

*plays the 1960's batman theme before smashing the cd*
this is so obviously lee inspire i saw it immediatly
the neck and jawline as well as the short ears his shoulders are a bit narrow though and taper off a bit
bruce is a big bruiser who uses his weight and sheer raw power to fight
dick is all together lighter and tends to be more acrobatic
damien tends to use dirty fighting
...just a bit of a batfan i am
btw if you have a printer why not prinout the pictures your nervous about ?
if you work on them and mess it up al you have done is mess up a copy the orginal is stil unmarred
that how i usually do it i messed up too many pics that were fine before i clod inked them (i wanted to say coletta inked them but i wont )

If I was to do this picture again there would be a few things I would change, but this one took me long enough as it was.
As for the inking, I always scan my pencils in first before I start inking just in case. I always get a bit nervous when inking but it's a risk I'm willing to take.

I'm not sure exactly. I usually draw my pictures when I'm on the couch after work for a couple of hours each night and this one did take me a few weeks to get to this stage
As for what I use, I just use various sized pitt pens. I'm not game to use an ink and nib when sitting on the couch as I just know I'd make a mess everywhere.

This definitely has Jim lee written all over it. I believe I seen this picture in a comic book he illustrated. I believe it was called," All Star Batman and Robin The Boy Wonder." Jim lee is definitely amongst the greatest. Good job though.
