Depends on how bad it is. If somebody gets so defensive over their favourite character that they throw insults/threats at other people, I may block them. I may also block annoying requesters who ignore art statuses and force other people to draw for them, I met one user who was obsessed with a character and they pretty much spammed requests.

I had a pretty deep obsession with a fictional character, but I still tried to enjoy other characters and draw them, and I never claimed that character was my only friend. Though I jokingly called him a "husbando", but I didn't really ship myself with him because it would be... weird.

I agree a lot! I used to have a friend that gets salty for liking a character and making it look like a bad thing. I always have this horrible feeling i'm gonna get called out for liking a character.

honestly, I like actually fall in love with fictional characters and it really gets me depressed sometimes. then, when I finally gain the courage to talk with someone about it, they've always ridiculed me..

Those people aren't worth your time.
It's not surprising, a lot of fictional characters are deep persons with different views and different realities. They're beautiful beings that we can touch in ways that we can't touch others. We can act selfish towards them and they wouldn't mind, they don't exist. But it's also depressing, when people in the real world make you shut yourself off so much. I've been there, and I hope you know you'll be ok too.
