I lost interest in the Black and White pretty quickly. My brother swore it off when the Creature ate the tutorial trainer in the middle of the tutorial.
I tried to teach my Creature to throw poo at things, and add poo to its diet. I started to get bored, but the final straw was that idiotic boat thing on the first level where you have to sit through the stupid song.
I dropped livestock on them to see if I could kill them in an ironic fashion. After a bit I decided that while the concept was really cool, the game design was too flawed to be fun.

Ah Black & White, spectacular game. Black & White 2, not so much, I think.

Well, the second one got repetitive fast. It was either a glorified RTS or city simulator, depending on how you played it. The Creature was incredibly down-played and really only useful as a soldier.
The first one is a classic example of a game that's very much inferior to today's games on a superficial level, but incredibly fun to play. Like Fallout or even Morrowind. Everything was much more subtle and challenging in the first one. You had less direct control of everything, which I think, ironically, made you feel more like a god and less like a city builder or a general.
If you really like BW2, there's no telling if you'd like the first one, but it's definitely worth looking into.
