I need to get a much better photo of this. The color's a tad off and it looks a little grainy. It shouldn't, it's oil paint.

I present to you my first real work in oil paint. Myself. I had a lot of fun doing it, so much that my final for this class, that was open ended, I did a portrait of Fredericka. I'll upload a photo when I get one of better quality.

The underdrawing was traced from a photo off a projector. The professor made us do it, but I don't think it detracts from the work that went into this. There was still plenty that could go awry in the painting process.

The original is 30x40 inches and hangs oh so humbly in my apartment living room.

Lovely! I can't believe it's oil paint, I find it hard to work with myself, you did a wonderful job :] I love that you choose a pic with such a natural expression. The shadows and the hair are especially pretty.

So wonderful and realistic! I like the fact that you chose a challenging expression, not just one where you have a retained smile. Paintings in which you have teeth showing while smiling are pretty difficult to nail down, otherwise you risk making the smile look like a grin. Yet you had no problems with this whatsoever.
Also, kudos for the wonderful job on the hair.

Thank you very much! I worked very hard on the hair, so I'm glad it paid off I agree that teeth are very hard to get down, I barely touched them in this painting, perhaps that's what helped?

That must be it. I mean, you only drew the basic shapes and a bit of outlines, so they turned out looking great, not overworked or anything of that sort.
