Description Because someone asked about my apparent skill in posing ponies. It's not skill, it's knowledge... and maybe some skill.

Big file is big.

I'm really beginning to hate GMod 13. To add to my reasons, for some inexplicable reason, Garry decided it would be a good idea to unnecessarily move things around so many people can't find them any more. One of those things is the Statue Tool. From the change log:

•Moved statue tool to properties menu

As it turns out, to find the Properties Menu (and the missing tools), you have to hold down "C", right-click on a ragdoll, and choose the tool you want. A completely pointless change that wasn't fully explained.

You may want to redo this for GMod 13, as the menus shown are now inaccurate. Unfortunate, as this tutorial is extremely helpful in posing these fantastic (and spaztastic) models.

No worries.

I use this to get them level with the ground: [link]
Of course, one has to go the route of un freezing things in order to change the pose, but I'm stubbornly patient like that.

Axquirix [2011-12-26 20:30:23 +0000 UTC]

Why won't she be moved by the physgun at phystimescale 0?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Stormbadger In reply to Axquirix [2011-12-26 23:48:08 +0000 UTC]

At 0 phystimescale, nothing moves (unless their movement isn't governed by physics, such as doors). That includes ragdolls, props, effects and certain projectiles (like grenades).

When i pick my pony and let it go and can't float like yours! Help?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Stormbadger In reply to LeAlphaDawgy [2011-11-29 07:33:02 +0000 UTC]

I'll go over the process.
Step 1: Turn timescale to 0.
Step 2: Spawn pony.
Step 3: Use statue toolgun on pony.
Step 4: Turn timescale to 1.
Step 5: Pick up pony with physgun and pull out of ground, rotating to the direction you want it to face.
Step 6+: [link]

I'm not sure how to help you with that... perhaps getting a plug-in keyboard so you have access to the numpad?

bloodyartist123 [2011-10-27 03:32:15 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, but.. what if you un-statulize a pony model?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Stormbadger In reply to bloodyartist123 [2011-10-27 05:02:57 +0000 UTC]

Unless you physgun freeze the parts you don't wish to move, then you've got the floppyness back.

jiolandshark [2011-10-27 01:43:11 +0000 UTC]

monketron [2011-10-26 14:07:03 +0000 UTC]

But then, after the statue tool, if you want to REALLY pose her, like move limbs and stuff, then you would have to unfreeze her, and then we are right back where we started, right?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Stormbadger In reply to monketron [2011-10-27 05:03:40 +0000 UTC]

Ah, that's another matter. I'll do a tutorial on that later, but I can say this: using the physgun, freeze every part you don't want to move for the image, and then un-statue.

DoctorWhooves [2011-10-26 11:52:18 +0000 UTC]

I always just pose them normally, because I hardly ever have ponies just standing plainly.

Fair enough.

ChaosYuuki [2011-10-26 11:47:10 +0000 UTC]

that makes everything a lot easier then the way i do it which is taking the time to pose every fing piece adn it never turns out as great in my opinion. (hasn't posted any do to suckyness)

Don't forget to type in these commands:

physgun_timetoarrive 0
physgun_timetoarriveragdolls 0

It will make the physgun stronger against ragdoll physics.

Make the Physgun stronger against physics so the beam doesn't bend.

If you've played GMod 9 then it will basically give you stats similar to that physgun.
