Here’s a quickie thing I did. It only took me close to three hours. I needed a little inspiration since I’ve been injured this past week and had little to no motivation to actually draw LOL. I really didn’t spend a lot of time on details and shading because I was really tired, but I’m still kind of proud of the way it came out.
I based the design for the horse on the Japanese art of Kintsugi – repairing broken pottery with gold lacquer. The idea of Kintsugi is not to fix the damage, but to draw attention to the piece’s faults and to embrace imperfection. I thought pastel-ish colors would blend well and I’m really happy with it, even if the colors are a bit darker than intended.
Inspired by “Unbreakable” by Janelle Monáe and Kelly Clarkson (I’ve never seen the movie, but I really love the lyrics of this song.)
