I haven't been out to the Southwest in many years but this looks right on from what I remember! When object import and maybe some sort of vegitation plugin become available for Terragen, you're going to be able to make truly photorealistic landscapes.
Btw, how much does the registered version of Terragen cost?

When viewing that 1600x1200 in 1028x768 it looks like a painting.. Thats cool

The mountains are wonderful. That seems to be Arizona in Mars. I think the textures on the closest part are wrong. I think it could look better if it is only sand. I hope you understand me.

The peaks in the background, and the sky back there, are fabulous. Real, solid, austere, all that. Reminds me of an old colleague's "yard" in Acton, California. My problem is with the foreground a bit, but I don't think it's your fault. Might just be the way I look at things, but sometimes Terragen seems to really mangle a texture on a surface with nearly vertical slope. At least it looks that way on the right. And I think someone said this before, but the amount of detail in the foreground sort of throws off the sense of scale. We must be really close to see such detail, but the terrain seems to beg to be big.

Everything in this looks good in my opinion, but it needs some stuff to make it look great all around, but I am also too tired right now to really get into it.
Just the grass seems strange, texturing on that doesn't look real at all I don't think.
Sky is awesome
Textures otherwise seem to work well, but could maybe use a little more tweeking (sorry, I'm sure you've already spent loads of time with the textures, but. . .yeah.
And finally, the terrain seems a little iffy somehow. In the distance at least.

the way the mountains end suddenly, with no fine horizon line in the background really takes some of the realistic feel.
i really like the sky's gradiet. the colors are my favorates.

This is an awesome render stotty ... I love the texture work in this .. definately a lot of time put into that .. the colour of the sky is awesome as well .. a very nice "sunset" colour to it .. Reminds me of parts of the Grand Canyon .. Great job

The haze, the softness, to me it seems more real because of that. And the grittiness in the landscape, the texture is really good, and is often lacking in renders.

This is a pretty good render and I like the way you placed the cliffs and so. But probably this is one of my less favourites from you. I guess because it has somewhat of a hazy and washed out look to the colours. That aside, you still retain the title of the best Terragen Master

Oh my goodness! This has a photo-realistic look to it. It reminds me so much of the landscape in Arizona....perhaps the picture is that of the land in which the Anasazi (sp?) dwelt, if so the only thing that needs adding is the cliff dwelling in the cliff face in the forefront The mountains in background are absolutely beautiful!

The colors give this a nice warmth. I love the textures and contrasts that make this looks like a photo. It reminds me of the southwest in the US, somewhere in New Mexico where the mountains and plains are endless. A beauty, for sure.
