there was so much lightning here last night.taken from alki.

re-edited the jpeg in camera raw in photoshop cs3. OMG what a difference! gave this image some more life!

This is really a very awesome shot. The surreal look of the sky combined with the intensity and brilliance of the lightning makes this a really dynamic shot. The city skyline is always a great subject with lightning, because the energy and light of the city is very kinetic too. There is a little bit of curving, blurring, and distortion going on on the left side, but it doesn't detract too much. I think you could even crop in a bit on this piece - keep the same ratio, but close in a bit on the bottom right corner thus removing the distorted area on the left. It would be kind of a bummer, I know, since this is a Seattle skyline, and the space needle serves as an icon for the city, but it never hurts to try and see what you think. An awesome shot - I really like this

This is certainly a sinister looking shot... the way the lighting is forking down to the ground, and the red-tinted clouds. For such a long exposure and wide aperature, there is a ton of clarity and detail in all of the lights on the buildings. Amazing capture... I've always wanted to try to capture lighting... do you have any tips? I'm sure a lot of it is just the luck of pressing the button at the right time.
