That last trip had certainly been an adventure, huh? After Sakae had gotten Nibs safely back through the treacherous ice water, they’d rushed him to a vet, who had thankfully said that his wound would not be fatal, or that it would even seriously affect him once it was all healed over. And after a week in a cone, waiting for it to heal over so that the rambunctious little guy would stop trying to scratch it off, and then another week in a different, bigger cone so that he’d stop trying to rub it on the ground, a cone so big that it went over the tips of his ears and covered hi face entirely, he was free to roam again. So Margaret thought she’d take him, along with his brave saviors, Slightly and Squishy, and the too big to help Sakae and Voulk, on an adventure without any sort of ice to fall into, and instead just go for a nice little romp through a field or something now that Nibs could finally run free without a cone. She knew that everyone, even the stuck up Voulks, had been worried about the little guy, and seeing him in such good shape was a relief that she figured this would be a good time for all of them to unwind. She rode on top of Voulk’s back as they headed out onto the nice, safe grasslands that Margaret knew so well. “Well?” She asked as she looked behind her at the three tokis and sakae standing behind her. Are you guys ready to have some fun? Nibs let out several excited barks as an answer, while Slightly nodded enthusiastically. Squishy just smiled up at Margaret, and Sakae gave her a meaningful look with her beautiful, striking violet eyes. “Alright then!” Margaret said as she gave Voulk’s back a hearty pat. “Let’s go have some fun!” And Nibs, much to no one’s surprise, was off like a shot again, excited to see new things. Even after that near death experience, he didn’t learn, did he? Margaret just shook her head as Sakae watched on nervously as Slightly, ever a little ball of excitement, chased after him, and Squishy chasing him, leading to an exact recreation of what had gotten Nibs hurt, and brought the rest of them all out here in the first place. But hey, there was no ice out here for them to fall through, the ground would be solid beneath her feet if she weren’t on a tokota’s back right now. Sakae, not feeling up for a chase today, Simply settled herself into the warm soft grass, stretched out, and prepared to take a nap. Voulk stood, gently moving his weight from foot to foot as he waited for Margaret to give him a command. He didn’t really feel like just standing around, but he was trying his best to be a good mount right now, and listen to orders, so he was surprised when he could feel Margaret’s weight shifting as she dismounted off of the handsome boy’s back. Yawning as she stretched her arms in the air, she looked at the confused Voulk, finishing her stretch and yawn before she spoke. “I think Sakae has the right idea today. You’re welcome to stay here with us, or have fun with the tokis out there, but don’t you dare hurt them. They’re little, you know.” Margaret plopped down on the ground, looking at the tokis, who had now looped back around to be running back towards her as she leaned up against warm, comfy Sakae. She had a nice sun beam, and it was the perfect temperature for a nap, she thought. As Nibs, now only barely in the lead as Slightly and Squishy slowly gained on him, Voulk gave her a rare, uncharacteristic grin as he took off after them, running just a bit behind Slightly, and Squishy, who had caught up to Slightly just a bit ago. He let out some excited, playful barks, that Squishy and Slightly returned before Nibs made his own tiny toki howl. Sakae shifted irritatedly at all the noise, not that she was the type to actually complain, of course, trying to get comfortable so she could take her well earned nap. Margaret just laughed as Sakae’s shifting pushed her off of the comfortable position she’d gotten into leaning on the girl. “Hey!” Margaret yelled. “Make room for me” She said jokingly as she scooted up towards the tired tokota. Leaning once again on her thick, warm, barbary mane, She watched as Squishy was the one to catch Nibs, laughing as she play wrestled with him. Slightly caught up, as did Voulks, but Voulks was worried about hurting the littler guys, so he just sat by and watched, waiting for the thrill of the chase to resume. Once their barking and howling had died down, Sakae did manage to fall asleep, her loud, pleasant snores permeating the air over the whole field and bringing a smile to Margaret’s face. Soon, now with the devilishly fast Squishy in the lead, the group of three tokis and Voulks ran past her again, and Margaret shushed them as they did, so they wouldn’t wake Sakae. Margaret knew how nervous the girl could be, and figured that if she was taking a nap now, she probably needed it and deserved it. So she’d let her rest today. Margaret found her self sleepy, but not tired enough to stop watching the pleasant play-fighting happening in front of her, slowly shifting from leaning on one part of Sakae’s back to leaning on another so she could see all the action. Once Squishy was caught it was Slighly’s turn to take the lead, and when he was caught far more quickly than the other two had been because he’s not the fastest of the bunch, big old Voulks took the lead. Once he too had been caught, the sun was slowly begining to set, and Margaret roused Sakae from her slumber. Soon, she was awake and everyone was back togeter, and they all began to head home from the ncie break that they all had earned after the ice floe fiasco the other day.
