"This is our dream..."-Rose (AD:JL episode "Dreamscape")

my entry for the contest over at , to depict something Jake and Rose would be doing to celebrate Chinese New Year.

And what better than to go dreamscaping? :3
For one night, Rose dreams as hard as she can and sees what it's like to completely go against what the Huntsclan taught, everything she used to know. Being a dragon was the most amazing experience of her life, and she would share it with no one but him...

Rose looks weird as hell for a few reasons: 1) I've only drawn her as a dragon maybe 3 times in my entire life, and every time was a little different; 2) I used gel pen then marker to color her underside...I tried to fix it, but obviously it didn't work...3) I'm still shaky on dragon anatomy, I haven't drawn them in awhile.

I purposely went with Season 2 style because the contest was supposed to be a "continuation" of the 2nd season; though I probably could have done the same thing in Season 1 style.

My hands and eyes are soooo tired from this. I made the mistake of using pink gel pen on Rose because my current markers are just that awful, but it took so long for me to finish just her that I decided to take my chances with the markers with Jake. (I also used the markers a bit on Rose for shadowing purposes). The background is crap, but I knew I would feel bad if I left a background out entirely or just threw some fireworks with no sky, so we end up with the crappy sky and the crappy fireworks...I guess as long as you can tell they're fireworks, it's good enough.

I'm extremely surprised how Jake came out. I haven't drawn much American Dragon fanart in awhile, and when I do it's usually of the wolf/dragon hybrid design I came up with. I can't really remember the last time I drew a picture of the Season 2 dragon that I actually worked on beyond a crappy notebook headshot doodle.
Oh, and I gave Jake 3 toes instead of 2 on purpose; the 2-toed thing always bothered me...

anyway, that's all for my ranting; wish me luck in the contest....
