How much do I love you Christmas tablet? Let me count the ways... (:So my first ever completely digital piece of art here is an entry to the contest "Comix Covers" where we had to do an evolutionized version of a comic cover already in existence. This one is parody of NYX issue 4 (found here [link] ) and the second appearance of X-23 in the comic mainstream.
Why X-23? Other than the fact that she's my favorite X-Man after Phoenix and right before Cyclops, she was BORN in X-Men Evolution (a fact people tend to forget sometimes) so I thought I'd be clever and parody her 'first' appearance and have her as she looked when she truly FIRST appeared on the show. Henceforth, why the title is 'Back to Basics'. The only adjustment I made was to the outfit, making it a little more mature and showing some more skin. It was too sexy a pose to just cover up completely in her black leather

great job. invoking NYX though of all of the Laura Kinney /x23 comics i own which is all of the ones shes ever apeared in (in a meaningful way) its one of the few that i actively dont like because of how unpleasant it is. its down right hard to read in places. the only other books that even come close to insighting that level of dislike in my is xmen red and the wolverines series. the former becouse its so god dame preachy and the latter because its bat fracking insaneΒ
one of the biggest disappointments i have related to Laura is despite her origin in cartoons. (xmen evolution and her letter incluseion to wolvrine and the xmen) is these shows have never lasted long enough for her to become a regular cast member. which is a shame.Β Β
but i suppose its not all bad. as undoubtedly the powers that be would reboot Comic Laura to fit more in to people that were into the show ditching years of comic continuity. and that would be a dame crime if you asked me as she has a magnificent story line and some fantastic comics and continuity under her comic belt.Β

That...WOULD be very interesting to see. I'd never actually considered it. Since one came from the other, I just always assumed they were the same character but you're totally right. It would be awkward a bit to say the least. Then it would be violent. Beautifully violent...

Man, that is good! I was just dropping by to see what you were up to and it was right there on the page. I remember the cover you used and I always thought it made he look even more dangerous because of her River Tam-esque pose, like "I'll cut your arm if you get to close!" Get the same feeling from your work, I mean that in a good way.
