Description
A praying mantis who's stuck around my house for some time now. I always seem to smile whenever I spot this little alien bug somewhere near the tomato plants.See my other photos of praying mantises, including a brown one!

They seem to love to watch us as much as we love watching them. No idea why...in their case, at least.

I really can't say why this mantis stuck around so much unless he saw interest in me... if anything, they should be afraid of us, but this one, and several others I've found, DID stick around for several days, if not weeks. Strange. lol

But I have 4 naughty cats, and live in a basement.

Praying mantises eat tomato worms, and if you have trouble with the worms, place dishes of water near the plants to encourage wasps to come around. Wasps will kill tomato worms, and will often plant a pupa in the tomato worm so the baby wasp will have food when they hatch. In this case, wasps are good.

Praying mantises are kinda strange with cars. I scooped one up out of a parking lot once during a rainstorm.
