Did this before Christmas and uploaded it on Tumblr first. Thought I'd start uploading small illustrations more frequently here too.
As enemies, the Lab Assistants have a lot of potential to be creepy and troublesome. From the games I get the idea that they're androids with very limited capabilities and programming, but there's plenty of room to expand on those ideas, and their roles. And I love creepy robot stuff because I’m a deviant
One thing I would've liked to have had answered was who the heck are they modelled on, in-universe??? lmao
Also- used a slightly more realistic colouring style? :V

I can't get over how good your Crash Bandicoot art is. Seriously. You don't see color palettes this amazing on DIGITAL work (where it's easy to fool around with hue and saturation at the click of a mouse to get desired results) and the fact that you can do this with markers is just...oh, such a treat for the eyes.
As for the Lab Assistants, I wonder if there's just some member of the N. Team (with some name like N. Cognito or N. Visible) doing all the behind the scenes work like fixing all the broken furniture after Crash smashes it or balancing all of the budgets for all the electricity the evil lairs consume and he's the one that they modeled the robots after. So the moment he shows up in the series proper, Crash just sends him crashing into some crates before realizing that he's NOT an android.
That being said, holy crap, that android is one of the most intimidating lab assistants I've ever seen. Imagine a game where one of them starts a robot uprising because the scientists are seen as something that is affecting the stability of the mission rather than something to be obeyed.

Using markers is certainly different from colouring digitally. I suppose one of the main differences I've noticed is that when colouring digitally, people tend to block in (dark) colours then add detailed (light) colouring on top. Whereas, with markers that isn't really an option if you want to go detailed, so I end up carefully applying the colours I want in the areas I want to put them. There is also less 'automatic' blending going on, so I have to apply lots of intermediary colours too. When you end up having to apply several different individual colours to small spaces in the drawing, I suppose it ends up looking more... crafted? Than a lot of digital art? I don't know how to put it. I don't even know if what I'm trying to say has any bearing anyway? @_@;
I love that idea! I love the idea of characters who are hiding in the background. And I imagined a similar scenario of Crash attempting to fight the 'real' dude aswell XD he'd be a fun character to incorporate in some way.
I wondered about a scenario like that too! Though a lot of my thoughts up until now have been ideas about them malfunctioning somehow and maybe, accidentally bringing about the destruction of Cortex Castle- something like that XD

I think that one's called the Howie scream? One of the stock sound effect screams they use in movies. Haha~
