Because some people think that Biphobia is "Diet Homophobia™" or isn't as bad as homphobia. When in actuality, it is as bad as homophobia.
And biphobia comes from more than just homophobic straight people, as most if not all homophobia is, as there is rampid biphobia within the LGBT community as well. The ideas that Bisexual people are "Sluts" "The ones with the most stds" "Active cheaters" "Gay/Straight people that can't choose a side" "Special Snowflakes" "Transphobes/Won't date transgender men and women" come from both straight people, gay men, lesbians and hell even transgender people. But nobody really talks about it.
Not to mention, that even on tumblr, its seen as bad to be bisexual. Especially for bi women, as its seen as you going with compulsory heterosexuality instead of being the true pure lesbian you truly are (even if you actually experience attraction towards men). And vice versa for bi men. But it seems a lot more prevelent for bi women. Like seriously, attempt to headcanon a girl character who has shown attraction towards women as bi, you will be called a lesbophobe and get death threats.
But hey, Biphobia isn't actually a thing.

Yeah, the gay community is disproportional AGAINST dating bi people. Of course, there are a lot more straight people in aggregate, and the LGBT circle is a very small one, so maybe it's just natural that there will be more variation and therefore more willing people to date bi people among straights. But it's still really messed up, and the movement needs to fess up to the flaws within their own ranks.
I think there are a LOT more bi people than we have statistics for because a ton of people are afraid to admit it. (the study that found a correlation between vehemence of anti-gay sentiment and existence of same sex attraction when provoked comes to mind)
If trans people can whine and cry over people not finding them attractive and claim oppression, yet no one acknowledges the *conscious* choice on of people to leave bi people alone even when they ARE attractive, what does that say??

I hate when gay people complain about bisexuals and call them all this because you'd have thought they learned not to judge other sexualities by having their own judged.

I hate when people from more obscure sexualities (basically anything not gay or straight) are just passed off as "special snowflakes". I'm afraid to be open about my asexuality on other social media site because I'm afraid of getting that kind of reception (I know asexuals don't normally face as many problems as other LGBT+ people but its still comparable in this instance).
