Description Had a nude model come in this afternoon; after some preliminary gesture-drawing, I tried out a conte-crayon for the first time. I think I like it a lot better than compressed charcoal; to me it seems a lot more versatile and I can get great tones in.

It may be difficult to tell, but it's the guy reclining back; he had an arm that was clutching a rope, so he was essentially suspended from the ceiling with his back braced on a box. I didn't include the arm though, because this study was mostly about the torso.

I never really noticed how bulky the ribs were until I saw this guy stretch out like that. Apparently he gets paid a lot to pose per hour. This was a 10 minute sketch.

The gesture-drawing is very faint. My professor didn't really like that, and I'll probably have to work on developing better habits.
