Description
this is based upon a photograph i took of a brook in the woods behind my house, it is done in watercolor and it is very dark because the sun was going down and everything was covered in the haze of that particular glow. you rarely see dark watercolor compositions becuase the nature of watercolors is generally very light and presented in washes. this is just my particular style.Related content

I think that this is a great way to take the best from a photograph and capture the mood and lighting in paint. The geometry of the reflected tree shapes is fascinating, a painter would often just reflect the image from above. The camera traces the view of the woods from below the water surface and this makes the tree angles and perspective different.

Amazing work! And you must live in a great location! I live in California, so I never see that kind of stuff (unless I visit my Grandma, but even in Missouri it's rare to see that).

It's nice, but we pretty much have no seasons. It's either really hot or slightly cold. It never gets too cold 'round here; at least not as cold as the East Coast. And I lived in Jersey for 5 years, so I know!

Incredible job here of capturing the difused light coming through forest canopy. Well done.

It great how you managed to display a sunset by using watercolours.
The way you've handeled the medium shows you're very good at it!

not easy to produce in watercolors.
very nice, great composition and just the right amount of light versus shadow to represent the sunset.
muted critque: the diagonal dark strip (strips) in foreground. shadows? trails?
btw: welcome to

Thanks it was all sort of accidental at the time! ... well as for the dark strips in the foreground... i am pretty sure that they were dirtbike tracks from the photo referance... if i could go back and do it over again they would be omitted :/

cheers to the accident! what would we have to speak about if it wouldn't exist? why should we ever feel the need to redo a painting?....
