Description Ok...... so this is my first attempt at modeling a human head. Anyone have any suggestions? I know the sides and back are a little lumpy, but I figure if it's covered by hair, it won't be too noticeable. Also, I didn't go into too much detail w/ the ears. But other than that? Please... be as brutal as you like as far as constructive criticism... after all, I'm majoring in this, so anything would help!!

For anyone who wants to know, the modeling was done in Maya 5 Unlimited.

haha... well, I asked for constructive criticism, so I guess I got it. But it's all good Yes, it was done in Maya 5. My major is in art, specializing in computer animation. I came to the college I'm at to go into traditional animation, but the fall I entered was the last semester they offered traditional classes... so I opted for this instead. I like to dabble in all fine arts, however (if you couldn't tell from my gallery). Anyhoo, thank you for all the tips... I've been working on it here and there since I posted it, so I'll post a new one sometime soon w/ my updates.

Hey, what is your major exactly? I am majoring in Film and Animation with an emphasis (big emphasis) on computer animation.

As for my suggestions, I guess this is done in Maya? I can't tell whether it's NURBS or polygons or subdivisions, but I think the main things to work out besides what you mentioned are in the nose and lips. The corners of the mouth look a little sharp, and the lower lip could stand to be tweaked, rescaled to more realistic proportions. The inside sticks up a little, whereas the definition should be more on the outer part. I think the nose definitely needs another loop of definition where it meets the face; it ramps into the cheek to soon. I think the forehead is an interesting shape, perhaps a little exaggerated. Though if that's what you wanted, that's fine. Lastly, the part of the cheek next to the meeting of the nose and the mouth seems to need some tweaking. It looks like there's an unwanted depression there, which stretches across the cheek. Additionally, above that there could be a little more lateral definition, more of a puffing out toward the top. But, that is certainly a very good first head. Nice work!

.....It appears that you'll be the next person that I'll have to kill in order to syphon their skills. Once I've done so,I'll merge your talents with all the others that I've "assemilated" and rule the world.

.... you know, I think that's the nicest thing you've ever said to me. But be sure to put me on the end of your list... Jerome, Ed, and others should come first, you know.

the nicest thing??! I told yu that you have really big eyes once. Thought that would rate higher. As for Ed and the others.....I've been hanging with them so they'll let their guard down. Then I'll eliminate them and take their skills.

I didn't realize the big eyes comment was a complement. Ah well. Give me a fair warning when you decide I'm the next one you wanna knock off for their skills, ok?
