You had a pet hermit crab? There's one specific beach about 2 hours drive from here, where there are hundreds of them - lots of fun

jipjip - actually, i had three of my own, which inspired my mum to get one. that was some years ago; i miss having them. i'd gotten mine in florida on a vacation (i'd been planning to since the time before that! hehe); i don't know if it's possible to get any near here.
that sounds like a fun place to live, though - i'd probably sit there all day watching! (=

we'd gotten some hermit crab food from a local pet shop at the time, and they would actually eat lettuce and carrot shreddings. water was provided by soaking a sponge, as they cannot have too much at a time.
also, i found a website that i wish i'd seen back then - hermit crab food . if you're down by the beach again, you must take photos! (=
