i think i'm going to make a couple copies of each... not anticipating very good sales on it anyway since it's not shiny kawaii fanart of yaoi or something. xD;;;

Oh, I do like the shading of her kimono better on the left though.

I like the one on the right more because it creates more dramatic lighting and draws more attention to the character, versus the on on the right where she's in shadows more and sort of just blends in~ Although because she blends with the background more it makes you take a second look at it and notice the beautiful subtleties in it~ Still overall I think I like the right one more~ Either way it looks amazing!!

the left. It has a sense of atmosphere and it blends with the background. also, the light source would be from the moon, so the bits of light that can be seen on her kimono sleeves and her hair is visible. Kinda like seeing her in her natural habitat? 8D *shot*
the right one is less realistic. Its like she's on stage with a backdrop on. Thus the light source is from above. It has less atmosphere but that in a way adds to the picture. Its as if she was reciting a monologue or something. Kinda like a lone actress or something
really depends on what your going for, but i vote left

dont get me wrong, if i came across either one of those, i'd still seriously consider buying it. They are both good, showing how the difference in lighting can change a lot about the picture. You just told us to pick the one we prefer, so.... =/

I say left, it looks a lot more soothing and natural.
The right, I'm not sure but the bright colour looks slight unnatural but that's probably just me.

I like the background of the first one more, because the bright light shining behind her just looks beautiful. However, I like the lighting on the girl in the second one more, because she is more illuminated, but the window doesnβt have that cool white glow. Arrg, itβs so hard to choose.
Either way, amazing work! It's good to see new stuff from you again.

The one on the left has a darker atmosphere, overall, whereas the one on the right almost has an Impressionist feel due to the contrast between the figure and the background. Like others have said, it really depends on what you're going for as far as which is "better." I like them both, but if I absolutely HAD to pick, I'd go with the one on the left. The one on the right, while it's easier to see the details, is almost a little too bright for me. I like the mood of the one on the left better.

I don't know. Based on the comments I skimmed through before posting mine, it seems like personal opinion is kind of split on this, and that's what I'd base it off of, were it me... Is there a way to do both? And then people could pick if they prefer the lighter one to the darker?
