Honestly, still don't quite understand why they made Trixie a magician when there is real literal magic in Equestria. In Boast Busters it seemed like she was really good with magic spells that most normal unicorns couldn't do, and then they made it so that she actually sucked at real magic and only knew stage magic/illusions. So I wonder if she just has existential crises once in a while going "what am I doing?" Of course now she's the school's guidance counselor, but I thought that was an even worse choice! I love her, but damn she's going to be a terrible counselor, she's going to make students cry

Hmm, I think Trixie is more into showbiz than performing magic. It's like an entertainer, if you will. Sure magic does exist in Equestria, but how often do you see a unicorn perform flashy laser show and illusion with the aid of smoke bombs and flashy lights? My guess is, yes, magic are everywhere, but not many unicorns use them for show. So her existence is still valid at some point.
