AHHHHHHHH I DID ITSo I've been working on this for about a week and half since I remembered Sunset Shimmer day was this weekend! It's always a weird time for me because my birthday is so close, and my mom shares a birthday so I have to get things ready for her at the same time and it gets really busy.
This was inspired by the gorgeous stained glass designs of the princesses in the MLP movie by Alexia Tryfon, found here: www.artstation.com/artwork/vOG…
I wanted to focus on her journey and accomplishments, so I used the image of a phoenix rather than a sun as the main focus, and included the original geodes that she gained control of in Friendship Games, which I believe indicates she has the potential of being an alicorn. And flames, because obvious. If I had more time I would try adding the watercolor type texture, but maybe some other time when I'm not under the gun.
Anyway, it's getting late and I need to be sending this in to EQD, so happy (almost) Sunset Shimmer Day! I hope it's a great one!

Aww thank you! And haha I didn't even notice that mistake! I was thinking of when she turned into Daydream Shimmer but that was magic borrowed from her friends, not the geodes. Good catch!
