Wow this is really beautiful, of love the contrast of the light and the dark and the use of color. Β You really get a sense of wonder. You get that sense of Β parallels between the universe and the ocean that's in the movie. The only possible criticism I could have is that the water might benefit from having some refractive lighting like it does here:Β www.wired.com/images_blogs/undβ¦

Thank you! Haha that's the exact reference photo I used! And you're right, I could definitely improve on the lighting in the water XD, I'll keep in mind for the future! Once again thank you

Yes, yes, exactly Mushishi! That was the thirst thought that I got after looking at this! The second one was because of the title:Β
"Consume? Why? Well, perhaps because we non-vegetarians consume so much meat and fish (or, equivalently, unnecessary goods that were fabricated by the cost of pollution), forgetting about the miracle of nature, the magical universe inside both the living things and us... We are, after all, connected, and much tighter than we suppose..."Β
Β
Maybe the man in the boat is not a fisherman at all... But that doesn't make this picture less magical! Although I am not fond of the colors on this pictures I still have this feeling... You know, like being alone in a big forest at night, or climbing the mountain, or stargazing.Β
What is especially wonderful - I like the banks of the river! The curves of the hills and their reflection.
Consume may also mean - being consumed by the beauty of Β nature... Like, completely dissolving in it.Β

Ah, I never heard of that until now. Just googled it and it looks beautiful, I can see how it relates! I'll definitely go check it out now, thanks for mentioning it. ^^ And wow, excellent analyzation on the title, I never really thought about it that way I really appreciate your detailed comment!Β

Note that the previous commenter Β (CaptainMisuzu ) also had this association! Definitely you should watch it! It is my favorite anime (after Miyazaki of course). It is very philosophical and deep, however, you may easily get lost because characters are very similarly drawn. Have you listened to "The sore feet song" by Kerr yet?
You are welcome! Β I just like to support people, because this is the only way for an artist/hobbyist to know if they had managed to express the thought or the feelings they intended to express. However, I have noticed that only really strong (read : professional, touching, detailed) or "popular tags"/"hot topics" pieces make it through... I don't quite like the latter unless it is good as an artwork, but people seem to be attracted to it...

Ah yes, Miyazaki is amazing! He's one of my biggest inspirations ^^Β
I'm listening to the song now and it sounds very relaxing and soothing, excited to watch the anime!Β
I'm thankful for people like you that are willing to give feedback, because I do find it is hard to get good feedback in such a big community like this, so I really appreciate it. I agree with your last comment too~Β

Man, you made this? How is such perfection even possible? What I don't understand is why I'm not seeing 300+ comments on this, it deserves every one! I'm not just saying this, by the way. Your images have such a dreamy atmosphere and alternate-world emotions within them. I'm shocked this doesn't have the Daily Deviation sign plastered all over it- or any of your images for the matter! I have been seriously inspired, so thank you so much!Β

Wow, thank you so much for the compliment! I'm really honoured even though I dont think I'm good enough to be featured on daily deviation ...I just came back from a 4 year hiatus after improving my art and I'm really glad you appreciate it!

I'm seeing a kind of celestial/sky theme in your work I'm enjoying it.
I haven't seen Life of Pi, but I feel like this is a beautiful, gripping piece that can stand on its own, too. There's so much going on, but none of it is too "busy". It's a truly mystical place that I wish I could visit in real life or even in a dream.

Thank you~ and I truly recommend the movie. Most of it is done in CGI but all the effects are beautiful. And yes, I really do like pairing spacial elements in my paintings!Β
