Description
Laaarge file. This is my poor quality attempt at making a colored pencil tutorial. This is how I do it and I know it's like a lot of other people's techniques but mine is still different and has a different effect!
I used prismacolors for this but you can use any kind. But this tutorial does work best for prismas.
Again, sorry it's such bad quality!
Hopefully you'll still use it if interested!

It's made by prismacolor, and it's just a clear, colourless pencil. You use it to blend all the colors on your paper together. It makes them nice and smooth.

do you have to know how to shade to color? Because I have no experience in shading and I think its kinda hard. So yep, just asking because I am currently going to color something but I don't know how to shade

I definitely think you should learn how to shade if you're going to color something. It adds a lot of dimension. Just practice a lot and you'll get the hang of it soon, trust me.

Nice, very helpful! ...So..err...what exactly does this blending pencil look like?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
suicidevegie In reply to twisted-spoonz [2008-12-16 23:58:55 +0000 UTC]
well, it's basically the same looking as a prismacolor, but it's colorless so it just looks like wood, and the tip is kind of an off-white.

can u use a white color pencil instead of a blending pencil?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
suicidevegie In reply to wolfboy11 [2008-11-28 03:09:42 +0000 UTC]
Well, you could but it doesn't lay on very smoothly and leaves the colours with a bit of a white overlay. If you really do want to use white, use a cheap brand like crayola or prang that wont make the colors too white. Do you get what I'm saying? >.<
But I do think a blending pencil is a really nice investment. :3

They're sometimes sold in the little stacks of individual prismacolor pencils. Sometimes they're in packages next to the coloured pencils.

I think this is one of the first tutorials I've seen that mentioned using a colourless blender. Did you use the pencil or marker?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
suicidevegie In reply to Reapers-angel [2008-08-27 20:29:32 +0000 UTC]
I use the pencil because it definitely blends the colours and smooths it out more.
The marker is okay, but it doesn't really smooth out the pencil strokes.
