Description I remember when Top Cow comics launched The Darkness it was a big deal. Garth Ennis writing and Marc Silvestri on pencils. I always thought the Darkness had a very cool design which always made me think of Predator but the outfit was so complex I imagine it must have been a pain to draw over and over. Marc Silvestri is a boss though and I only had to draw it once.

Here's what it is supposed to look like.   i.pinimg.com/originals/cc/72/6…

Thanks - Silvestri is tough. I might try another of his.

Yeah The Darkness ended up being overshadowed (haha - Darkness, overshadowed...) by Witchblade. I wonder why...?

Guys like Silvestri and MacFarlane have this almost masochistic love for the undertaking of a detailed ink. I'm currently working on an ink of a Yautja and as I shake out my weary wrist, I can only wonder what it is to professionally illustrate characters like Darkness or Witchblade.

I know right? I know McFarlane used to rag on Liefeld about how he had to draw one face for Spider-Man whereas Liefeld had to draw 8 for New Mutants (part of which inspired Liefeld to create Deadpool) but McFarlane shot himself in the foot with his intricate webbing designs and web panel borders. He grew to regret that.

He was a young man then, just overambitious!   No but all the same, God bless him; his covers left me obsessed with Venom when I was a 4 year old. I have a love for the character that is deeply rooted in my soul.

Plus look how unmistakable his images are that they've been paid mirror-homage to almost as many times as the Bat-Slap or Spider-Man No.1
