Description
Fanart for Isaac Asimov's "Robbie", best known for being a part of his short story collection "I, Robot". It was by far my favorite of all the one's I read. (Because come on, robot nursemaid. (: )Also on tumblr .

Love how classic/retro the robot design is and the girl is adorable.

I tried to go off the book description but they gave him a really weird base shape for his head and torso. I honestly cannot even remember the word for it but that's what I tried to draw.
Thank you!

Was it "parallel-piped"? I found that strange too, but this version of him looks great!

Yeah, that's right. Thank you!
It's odd, I ran into the word again reading another one of his works recently. It may have just been more popular at the time.

No problem! ^^
Oh really? Which one?
Yeah, or I notice Asimov likes being really precise with his descriptions...maybe he just thought that that word was specific enough to his taste X)

I read Caves of Steel. I think he was describing an object in a room.
He certainly loves world-building and painting a picture with words.

Ohh I found it, yeah! In Spacetown. That's pretty cool!
Ikr? Sometimes I can get irritated when authors put too much worldbuilding in one place, but with Asimov I enjoy the character descriptions, and the stuff he adds to try and make things more "scientific"
