Gads I favorited the other deviation on the DAprints acct.
Anyhow, ed it here too.
I love this piece. It starts from the bottom and seems to arc up to a point, it's almost sculptural.
Gorgeous pic. IMO though just a little more sky added to the top may help bring the composition out a bit more.
great job!

Thanks for the Thanks for the compliment. I agree that the image could have used a little more sky. A lower angle would have done well.
Thanks again.

Well, I'm a sucker for skatephotos, and this one's pretty neat.
The only thing is that I wish tose the skaters face.
I think it would look cool if you shot this from the other side too, but there's not much to do about that now.

Thanks. His leg got in the way of his face. I couldn't shoot from the other side because I would have been looking at the sun. I don't think I had my flash at that time. Taking action shots looking into the sun becomes very difficult.
Thanks for the comments though. I look forward to the possiblity of taking more shots like this.

Awesome colors and timing on the capture. It's nice that you have the low angle; it takes the viewer right into the action.
From a fellow Nikon D70 user who has taken some skate pics, I have a tiny suggestion. I've found that using the fill flash is really effective in reducing the shadows on the skater in this relatively harsh light. The D70 is one of the few cameras out there that has a flash sync speed as fast as 1/500 sec (even a new $1,7000 D200 only goes as fast as 1/250 sec!), so exploit it! Also, I would have cropped off a little from the left side of the pic, to center the skater more in the pic.
This is still an awesome shot. I can skate a little, but I wish I could skate this well.

Thanks for the compliments. I couldn't use fill flash because I had my camera on continous. And with the lens I was using I believe I would have been too close to use the flash. As for the composition, I chose to place the skater on the right to emphesize motion.
Thanks for the suggestions.

It's all good. You can never understand the situation a photo was taken under by looking at it. If the photo is done right you will never be able to tell how it was done. You'll only be able to see the result.
Keep up the critigue. Not very many people give one.
