Description Well. I bought a dvd of silence of the lambs (fantastic film) and got inspired, so here is a painting of everybody's favourite cannabilistic sociopathic serial killer: Hannibal Lector (Anthony Hopkins)

I had great troubles with Crapcam on this. Uploaded onto my comp and pixellated beyond belief, I had to use Smart blur and blur tool and clone tool and colour adjustment etc...which is why it now looks a bit odd.

I painted this picture with Acrylics and a nice Chianti....sluuuuurps.

New edit*

I'd spelled the man's name wrong in the title, which frankly made me look a bit stupid. It has been corrected!

He's so delightfully mad. Beautiful painting. I love his sated, euphoric expression.

Clarice: I came here to see you.
Lector: Oh stop it, people will think we're in love.

xD
i loved that movie, though i was surprised at how fast he was for an old man.

I don't think it looks odd at all, it makes me think of the scene while they're in Memphis and he kills the two cops. Very nicely done. I must fav.

YOU ARE TOTALLY AWESOME!!! Hannibal lecter is the most amazing person in the litterary world!do you have this as a print????i can't find a poster of him anywhere. But, you are an awesome artist.
(Ps. i'm married to him in my dreams)

Thank you so much. I agree that the character is a stunning creation. I remember when I first saw SotL and my jaw literally dropped whenever Hannibal was on screen.

I don't think this would be accepted as a print, unfortunately, because this comes under fanart (unless DA has changed its rules). Of course there's nothing stopping you from downloading it and printing it out (you didn't hear that from me, right )

Good luck on finding a poster of your dream husband

Ah!! My favorite movie of all time!
I love this part in the movie... how he's just totally calm, like he had gotten lost in the music for a few minutes. And then he turns around and sees the bodies as if he had forgotten they were there.
Great work!

excellant, have you read the books? They put the films to shame (although the films are very good)

Thank you. I've read Red Dragon, Silence... and Hannibal. I haven't yet read Hannibal Rising. I think there was a lot more tension and a touch of bitterness to Starling in 'Silence' which they ditched. They completely changed the ending to Hannibal, I don't know why.

Love that emoticon btw Look at his eyebrows go!

i LOVED Starling in "Silence" and i too have NO idea why they changed the ending in "Hannibal" I think it may have been that the public wouldn't have liked a sociopath running off with an FBI agent, to my understanding the FBI don't get very good press as it is XD. Hannibal Rising isn't as good as the previous books, to be honest I was dissappointed, but it still is a good read

and thanks XD

I heard that they originally rewrote the script for Hannibal because Jodie Foster didn't like the ending and after she pulled out, they stuck with it anyway. I think they missed a trick there.

truly beautiful - I know thats an odd way of putting it but I mean the art not him LMFAO... I think you capture him really well... did you know that he never says Chianti in the book, he says Amarone instead. Random fact

sullen-skrewt In reply to NDean [2008-06-28 13:47:32 +0000 UTC]

Thank ye so much. I wonder why they changed it to Chianti? 'I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice Amarone.' Actually I can the audience turning to each other and going 'what's an amarone?' Might have lessened the tension

lol... yeh... also, he never does the psftftftft thingy either. I think chianti just sounds scarier while amarone reads scarier lol

You have even captured Hannibal Lecter in his magnificence! The red blood greatly contrasting with his pale skin. His hands skill swaying to the music of Goldberg Variations, and hannibal still savoring the taste of the guard's flesh. Hannibal Lecter, maniacal genius, and iconic killer. Bravo on this amazing work.

sullen-skrewt In reply to Dachande89 [2008-06-06 10:29:56 +0000 UTC]

Thank you. This scene was just so startling when I first saw it. The brutality of what you see compared to the gentle, flowing sounds of the Goldberg Variations. It really highlighted the danger of this character - that he could be so easily removed from the act of killing.

Dachande89 In reply to sullen-skrewt [2008-06-06 10:43:14 +0000 UTC]

So very true. He has a distinct class and elegance to him, and yet he could so brutally kill a human being and devour his flesh. Brilliance and madness at their best.

lol ya, i actually think the movie is better than the book too (which is a rare thing in my opinion) just because of the way they filmed it, with the mood and and detail, of course things were changed but they actually did a quality job on it all.
