"I am a person who discovers... I am a person who lies."

Eliot is from my original story, Ghosttowns and is from a planet called Bast. It's my own world with its own cultures, races, ect. It's pretty similar to Earth but there is a force called Etheric Energy that shapes a lot of how things are run, and has given about 70% of the population superhuman abilities. These people are known as Therics. There is also a large population of free-thinking robots known as Melek. Following a cataclysmic event that reshaped the way the world looks, Bast's leaders decided to throw down their arms and rebuild, which lead to a hundred-year period of peace and a scientific and artistic renaissance... Until the Melek took over.

Originally there were only four Melek (Seraphim model), designed to end a war but were instead sealed away for a hundred years while the rest of Bast enjoyed their century-long period of peace. While sealed, the Seraphim became corrupted into thinking they are agents of the gods of a long-dead religion sent to Bast to save humanity from itself. They built more of themselves, twelve models (then and hundreds, then thousands of individuals) total, and came back to the surface to slowly infiltrate and take over one of Bast's largest countries, Merke. Once they completely took power, they declared a holy war on the rest of Bast- convert or burn. Their initial push was easy- they attacked during a worldwide mutual armistice, and no country had a full standing military, if they had one at all.

As for Eliot-
Eliot was born to a noble family in the country Vesterra into an extremely controlling, traditional family, the youngest of six. Eliot, born with a restless intelligence that far outstripped her parents, had a hard time falling in line and was sent away to boarding school to get the tradition beaten into her when she was 12. Instead of letting that happen, Eliot's sister Ana got Eliot out of there and left her with her aunt in a neighboring country. There, Eliot had the support to pursue her fascination with the sciences, and lived there furthering her education (and developing her Theric powers). During her time she built herself a little reputation as a young prodigy, earning degrees in biochemistry, etheric science and genetics and her research caught the eye of Merke and their military (the Otrak Savun)- already in a shaky alliance with Vesterra. When Eliot was 19, they approached her parents about Eliot coming to work for their military, and her parents offered to sell Eliot in exchange for strengthening their countries' alliance and for more protection. Merke agreed, tracked Eliot down and took her. They 'conditioned' Eliot into dependency on their country then immediately put her to work. Eliot currently heads their research and development department. She has a hand in weapons development and was involved in their supersoldier program, Sector Grey. She is allowed to further her education and pursue her own research projects- widely considered one of the most intelligent people in the world to her captors, and they try to treat her like gold, pay her a lot and grant her freedoms that most of their captives could never dream of. They rely on her anger at her parents and apparent apathy as a decent substitute for loyalty.

However they treat her, Eliot burns for revenge for both her captors and her parents. She sabotages them in any way she can, and relays secrets to their enemies when she can (which is made easier through her connection to Jo). She's cultivated an excellent facade of loyalty and they still don't suspect a thing.

Personality-wise-
Eliot, though angry and bitter at her situation, hides that well and has retained her curious and restlessly inquisitive personality. Merke has forced her to create many awful things, and she harbors the most guilt about her involvement in Sector Grey. Though deep down it kills her that her research is being used for war, a big part of her is perversely grateful that she has access to so much technology and has the opportunity to do so much for the world of science. To protect herself, she's managed to convince herself that she really is an awful person who is solely driven by revenge, and tries really hard not to think of the people she has to experiment on as people. This worked for her until she kind of started to fall in love with one of them... oops. Eliot also has issues with control/her lack of it over her life, and does what she can to feel in-control of her life. She's also an extremely overdramatic person, even in her most bitter and 'apathetic' state. She craves affection and validation, and covets the few people she receives genuine affection from.. to the point that she would drop anything and sacrifice anyone else if they were in danger.

In my 'guess who' submission, Eliot is working on a virus bioweapon that will only work on humans, a project she is making sure won't come to fruition. One of the Melek, Gulzar, is her partner and one of two people she actually trusts and calls a friend. The other Melek is Selaphiel, an enforcer (like Uriel in my last guess who submission), whose primary job is to keep an eye on Merke's civilian assets. Selaphiel is fascinated by Eliot's work and has a little bit of a crush on her.

Some fun facts about Eliot:
Eliot is a Theric, a really dangerous one. She can freely manipulate the aforementioned Etheric Energy, which is what caught her captor's eye in the first place. She tries not to show this off too often, but in simple terms her powers are similar to what alchemists can do on Fullmetal Alchemist.

She has an eidetic/photographic memory, meaning she never forgets anything she reads. This has greatly helped her in her studies, and has allowed her to learn the many languages she knows.

Eliot has black(ish) blood, which also means she scars black. That, her dark hands and feet and her central heterchromia are racial characteristics that you can learn more about here

Eliot is squishy, but has a little muscle tone from venting her frustrations via kickboxing (more of the cardio kind, not the fighting kind). She hates exercise but it makes her feel better about her diet consisting mostly of coffee and potato chips.

When she's not making an effort to stay stoic, you can see her thoughts all over her face. She's very expressive, especially her eyebrows. Currently, though, she's either Mad or Sad about 90% of the time.

The marks and metal plates on the back of Eliot's neck are from the communications implants she has in her brain. They connect her to two of Merke's higher ranking officers (they often use her for tactical advice), and to Sector Grey's team leaders-including the leader whose team escaped Merke. She also has implants designed to destroy her brain upon her death, put there as a protection for all the secrets she holds.

Eliot has horrible, horrible eyesight but refuses to get her eyes surgically fixed. She knows augmentative surgeries are safe and common, but an event I discuss below has made the thought of them completely nauseating to her.

Eliot's scars are mostly from her childhood, where she spent a lot of time climbing, and falling out of, trees to pursue childhood 'research' (mostly on bugs). A few of them are from lab accidents. A few are from her 'orientation' to Merke.

Eliot's tattoos all have various meanings and they were all gotten at very low points in her life in an effort to feel some sort of control.

Vesterra is a country that is mostly built high up into the huge trees in the country. Part of Eliot's torture was forcing her to have an extreme fear of heights so she would never feel at home there again.

Eliot no longer believes in any gods and can't justify any of them existing that let all the horrible things she's witnessed happen.

Early in her 'career' at Merke, Eliot had really almost managed to convince herself she could be satisfied working with Merke and considered dropping some of her anger at them... Until the Sector Grey program happened and fifty kidnapped 16 year-olds were brought to Merke to turn into super-soldiers. Eliot wasn't aware of the program until two years later, when she was approached with these brainwashed, highly trained 18 year-olds and asked to augment them into perfect killing machines. Eliot had to oversee these 'kids' (she was only 22) get extensive surgeries to graft body armor internally and other augmentations to muscles/bone/ect. She was then given the job of being mentally connected to them as a tactical liaison, and had direct access to the team leader's thoughts and feelings at all times... That's when she really, really began to hate Merke and vowed to destroy them from the inside out.

Eliot's biggest weakness? She finds it impossible to fully trust anyone, and she can't let anything go. It's incredibly difficult for her to forgive people, she can hold a grudge for years, but it's more than that. Despite what her parents did and how much she wants them to pay, she still loves them fostering a weird, intense guilt.Similarly, she hates her captors but they still treat her well and give her opportunities she's never had.  It brings a lot of unnecessary stress and conflict into her life, prevents her from forming close relationships and get the affection she craves, and makes her feel like an awful person.  (she's also deathly afraid of heights)

Can totally relate.

No worries! It shows you have a lot in your head and it's good to get it written down so you can go back and reference it
