Fanart for the latest Nancy Drew game, The Captive Curse. Not really a spoiler if you haven't played it yet.SO. YOU GUYS. I expected a couple of things from this game: 1.) creepy castles, 2.) epic German accents, 3.) some Sonny Joon references. (Only because my friend had already informed me that she had found his resume.) IN GENERAL, PRETTY TYPICAL STUFF.
So it was a total shock to me when the game started out with major drama between Nancy and Ned. I am... not overly fond of the two of them together. Ned is perfectly fine, and I mostly found him adorable in this game, but my true heart lies in Nancy/Frank territory. Blame the super mystery books, guys. Thing is, though, I never really expected them to throw anything like this at us in the games. It just never even occurred to me.
BUT THEN. All the relationship drama happened. And then Nancy and Frank were mutually reflecting on how much relationships suck and how they are both much more comfortable working cases and being dorks together and ahhhhhhhhhh.
And then when Nancy calls Frank to let him know she's gotten back together with Ned, he's totally forcing enthusiasm. And then he says, "It's... good to see you two back together," and his voice totally breaks and I am just flailing around miserably because CURSE YOU, HER INTERACTIVE, CURSE YOU FOR GIVING ME EVEN THE SUBTLEST OF NANCY/FRANK TENSION IN THIS GAME. There is no going back for me now.
I ship them a lot, okay. THEY ARE OTP.
(That being said, I am super pumped for the next game and Nancy/Ned/Bess/George shenanigans.)

That whole episode took me by surprise too. And then there was that issue in Castle Malloy about Ned hiding from some girl at that pool party - they just blew by that potential situation.

I don't remember this very well either, but apparently you can't call Ned all the time because he's hiding from these very flirtatious sorority girls. I DON'T KNOW. XD

Cool. I only play the ones w/ Frank and Joe in 'em, 'cuz nothing against our favorite gal detective and all but they rule. I ship Frank/Nancy too and I hate when there are those moments...they get your hopes up...on the other hand, it means the people behind the scenes see it too...hope springs eternal

That would be Ransom of the Seven Ships, I think. So I think there were... four games since then? And don't worry, they don't actually break up, they just have a little heated spat which I found quite entertaining.

Omigosh! I totally spazzed when Ned and Nancy had their fight! My best friend Sam was spending the night at my house when we started the game together and I completely flipped out when Nancy hung up after their arguement. I started screaming "YES! YES! GOODBYE NED! HELLO FRANK! She said, "that was not good..." and I'm like "What are you talking about?! That was great! Now you're free to dump him and be with Frank!"
I actually ran outside and started doing cartwheels in the grass in a skirt! Poor Sam (who is sadly a pessimist) thought she was going to have to sedate me.
My epically sad fangirlness aside, this picture is wonderful and exactly how I imagined Frank's face! Spectacular job!
P.S. I wanted Frank to read the rest of Joe's note...

Aw, Frank's widdle heart couldn't take more of Joe's cheesiness. RUB IT IN, WHY DON'T YOU, BRO? XD It was hilarious, though. I can't hate Ned because he was pretty funny during the rest of the game, but Frank/Nancy is just my perfect ship.

Yes, finally! Someone who noticed that too! I'm not crazy! Well.......No, I'm still crazy, but...Thank god you noticed that! I thought it was just my overactive imagination. But, no! I wasn't imagining that! *victory dance*. And, yes I agree with you. When I read some of the books, I supported Nancy and Ned's relationship. But the games changed that, especially this game! Curse you, you launched my into one of my rare hyper episodes. I need to go calm down now, because my sister was confused when I started laughing randomly.
And yes, I reacted the same, flailing around, but I started laughing in a giddy type way. I do that alot. In fact, I'm going to replay CC so I can hear that line again. Whee! *goes to play CC*

I COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND. My brain has been in hyperactive Frank/Nancy mode since I played that game. AHHHHH, I AM RIDICULOUS. I think they're definitely hinting at something. Maybe we'll get more hints like this in future games? I do hope so.

AH, I HAVE GOT TO GET THIS GAME! I have absolutely no idea who Frank is, but I LOVE Ned. There's been a serious lack of him in the last few games, and I miss him. I'm glad to know that they get back together at the end though.
Btw, were you able to finish Water's Edge? I CANNOT finish it, I can't find the second riddle to the basement puzzle (which, btw, is an incredibly creepy area).

Oh my gosh, the puzzles in Water's Edge are awful. My brother and I tag-teamed on one of the sudoku puzzles and it still took us two hours to finish. Crazy. I did beat it, though, and I really love that game. You can find walkthroughs on YouTube if you need help with those puzzles. (AND THERE IS NO SHAME IN NEEDING HELP, OH MY GOSH, THEY WERE RIDICULOUS.)
Frank is Frank Hardy! Ned and Frank are the two people you can call in this game. They are both adorable in it, though. All the dialogue was really good in this game, I thought, for both the phone characters and the suspects.

Oh, THAT Frank! I didn't even consider that. I can't really see them together, but I do LOVE that the Hardy's and Nancy are so close. I loved Ghost Train because we got to interact with them!!!
Unfortunately, the Hardy Boys games are truly awful, lol.
I go to the Her Interactive forums to spam for help all the time, it's truly shameful, lol. I HATED that giant sudoku puzzle. I had my grandmother (who is a master at that sudoku) give it a go, and even she couldn't figure it out. Finally, we just looked up the spoiler.
I loved the Water's Edge story, but the puzzles are absolutely killer.

I've never played the Hardy Boys games, but I don't really care to. WHY CAN'T YOU BE GOOD?
But yeah. If you've ever picked up the Nancy Drew/Hardy Boys super mysteries, they definitely do a lot of hinting that Nancy and Frank like each other, but it's mostly just heavy suggestion, lol. I think HI was just kind of giving us a nod to those books.

The closest they ever got to making out was having a sexy midnight swim on a cruise together but then that was cockblocked by a dead body in the pool.

But then there was another book that was DELICIOUS because Nancy like sprained her ankle and Frank was like, "Oh let me help assist you!" and he was half-carrying her and then Ned appears LITERALLY OUT OF NOWHERE and Frank and Nancy look at each other and are like oh shit. It was pretty glorious.
