Chapter Two: A New Life

I looked over to see a small statured man in a cape and white pants, and behind him were another boy and a girl.

His ebony hair fell just below his eyes, but the back half of his hair was also slightly shaved.

I could also make out that he had bluish grey eyes.

And they were staring at my {e/c} eyes rather intensely.

My hand released itself from the man’s neck, and he and one of his friends ran down the tunnel scared senseless.

“And just who the hell are you now?”

I said with hatred in my voice.

The two people behind him gasped and began to whisper to each other.

“My name is Levi, and I pretty much run everything down here. Now just who the hell are you, girl?”

Although I was quit sheltered, I had heard things about a guy named Levi from my brother.

According to him, he was notorious for running the underground tunnel and he was a criminal that no one could ever get into custody.

Although judging by his appearance he didn’t seem to be too threatening.

“Listen asshole, I don’t care who you are. Nor am I asking for your help or sympathy. So if you could just point me in the direction of somewhere I could at least sleep that’d be great.”

The girl in back of him scoffed before lashing at me.

“Don’t talk to my brother like that!!! You don’t even know him!!”

“Don’t fight my battles for me, Isabel.”

She glared at me before returning to being silent.

“Here’s what’s going to happen girl. Assuming that I heard correctly from Samuel, you are {Name}, and you are a refugee from Sina. You were a prostitute, right? So you’ll be-”

My hand curled up into a fist.

“I am not a prostitute! You don’t know my life, or what I’ve been through for that matter!”

“Funny {Name}, now do you see how I feel about you talking to me the way you are now?”

The cold gazed criminal actually had a point.

“You’re right, Levi. I’m sorry. So you’re the one that Samuel told me was going to be looking after me until the military police grew tired of looking for me? Well he did say he hired the best underground criminal to take care of me.”

“That’s correct.”

He said while folding his arms over his chest.

“Well then looks like I won’t be needing this”

I said as I removed the hood of my cape.

My {h/c} hair now fell freely onto my mid-back.

I looked up to see Levi with a shocked expression on his face.

“Well then…it’s quite obvious that you were sheltered judging by your appearance.”

His eyes seemed to dance around my entire body for a few seconds.

Usually when I found a man staring at me, I would instantly feel hatred and disrespect towards them.

But the brief couple of seconds that Levi did it, I actually felt fine with it.

Well that’s something new.

“Well {Name}, seeing as it would be rude to not introduce my comrades, meet Isabel and Farlan.”

The two people I now knew as Isabel and Farlan now seemed to be rather excited.

“Hello there!”

They both chimed in unison.

“Levi had mentioned that you would be coming, but I didn’t think that you’d be so…beautiful.”

Said Farlan who now had a tint of red cascading his cheeks.

“Cut it out, stupid. I’m sure she gets that crap enough. Look {Name}, don’t assume that just because you’re pleasant to look at, that you’re going to get special treatment down here. This is a different life, princess.”

I reached into my back pocket and took out the bag of money I had saved.

All three of the refugees looked at the bag in awe.

I threw the bag over to the strange man I now knew as Levi.

He stared at it halfheartedly.

“Just what is this?”

I looked at him with unfazed eyes.

“Don’t EVER refer to me as princess again. Keep the money, it doesn’t mean shit to me. Don’t assume that I’m some spoiled brat that came from a life of luxury.”

His eyebrow raised at the comment.

“Very well, {Name}. I have a feeling that you and I are going to get along just fine.”

We all began to walk down the streets of the underground city.

Along the way people would either praise our group, or run off in a frenzy.

Does he really have this much power down here?

After quite a bit of walking, we all finally came to a stop at what seemed to be an old abandoned house.

We walked in and the first thing I noticed was how neat and tidy everything seemed to be.

Considering the fact that the outside gave off a totally different impression.

“{Name}, this is where you’ll be staying.”

Levi said as he opened a door to a room.

Inside I could see that there was a small cot with a folded blanket, a small dresser, and a mirror.

“I know it’s not much, but with time you’ll get used to living off of only the small things.”

I turned towards him and smiled.

“No actually, this is perfect.”

With that sentence, I took off the cape I was wearing and put it in one of the drawers.

Levi now had a shocked expression on his face.

Because of the fact that I was being made into an escort, I had to consistently work on my figure.

Which he was now staring at…and rather awkwardly.

I waved my hand in front of his face.

“It seems I can charm even the coldest of men as well.”

“Huh? Oh get over yourself. I just spaced out. I have no interest in you whatsoever, this is strictly business.”

And with that he stormed out of my small room.

Through the slightly cracked door, I saw him look back for a few seconds, before he walked to another part of the house.
