Description
Finished sculpt of the Juggernaut. I just have to paint it. I'll probably fill in a crack or two with glue and prime it again, but other than that I'm finished sculpting.Related content

Thanks!Β It was one my first and I barely knew what I was doing. lol...Well, cracking can be caused by a lot of things, like not letting the baked statue cool slowly (leaving the oven door closed andΒ letting it coolΒ several hours after the initial bake time) and an improperly made armature (too much aluminum foil) or too weak for the weight of the statue.Β You just have to learn how to fix them or work in a different material.Β Super glue, epoxy putty and some new sculpey will usually fix major cracks.Β Then you can just sand it smooth.

thanks for the reply, that helps a lot and I'll definitely follow the advise.
I've been using WED clay, someone suggested it as a good medium for air dry clayΒ option and I've notice that most of you greatΒ artists use super sculpey so I'll try that. do you have any suggestions on what medium to use for large sculptures?
thanks again for taking the time to reply.
And again super cool work, big fan of your work.

No prob. Β I've never used that clay. Β Most of my advice was meant for super sculpey...I'd suggest super sculpey firm for the body and for smaller things like heads and hands I'd recommend castilene soft or medium, but fyi castilene is a form of wax and can't be painted or hardened...you'd have to make a cast of it for a permanent statue. Thanks!

I was using WED clay, someone told me that was a good medium to use for airdry clay option maybe that has to do with it. I see a lot of people using super sculpey so I'll try that.
Thanks again

Very nice, it's cool to see it without the paint. And like I said before, the details are great!

Great! I like to use super sculpey too, how did you get the helmet so smooth, I always strugle with this when doing metal objects. I always end up with small lumps on the surface. Great work can't wait to see more.

Well, I've got to say that the helmet was pretty hard to shape and size properly, but to make it smooth I used my fingers to the best of my ability and then used a bit of 91% alcohol on a soft paint brush to get as much of the remaining bumps and lines out. Then I baked it and used some fine sand paper. Hope that helped.

Yeah, that never tried an alcohol brush to get out the lines & lumps, I will try that on my current sculpt. Thanks!
