I'm sure I'm not the only person who made this comparison. Cute animals that can undertake a temporary transformation to become more powerful but still change back? Ha! Nice try!Although joking aside, I'm curious to see how the Mega Evolutions play out in battle. Many of the designs look pretty dang cool !
...And on a side note, a Digimon vs. Poke'mon game. I can still dream!

Having spoken in the comments to a few people, it seems, the English / American Pokemon fans quite aggressive towards Digimon and others based on the principle games. (I can not comment here in Germany is the more exact opposite: O)

The only thing awful about it was watching it on Crunchyroll. Every time an ad went on it repeated itself twice-over. And it didn't help there were four episodes, and each one had three adds in it. I know we can skip them, but it is really annoying.

Mega-stage Digimon are called Ultimate in Japan, so calling PokΓ©mon's Mega Evolution a ripoff is hardly fair. That said, I do understand why people have drawn the comparison. The franchises have their similarities, anyway; it's not surprising.

Lol I like this picture XD gave me a good laugh. Reminds me of the Sonic and Mario thing o.o Or Sonic and DBZ XD (I love both Pokemon and Digimon. Sonic and Mario too. Each series has there own thing even if they copy the smallest of the biggest concepts of another series/game. Digivolution and Evolution, 7 Chaos Emeralds and 7 Dragon Balls, Mario Kart and Sonic SEGA All Star Racing -or any other sport game XD- They all may do something of the same thing but we still love it anyway c: ) Well I hope most of us do D:

1. If digimon was a rip off of pokemon wouldn't pokemon sued digimon or shut them down
2. They are completely different even the creator of pokemon knows they are both different
3. Pokemon ripped off mega evolution from digimon since mega evolution is digimon's original idea

You do know that Digimon originally started out as a Tamogachi rip-off which came before Pokemon right? Not to mention that Pokemon itself is a rip-off of Dragon Quest 5. Neither franchise is original.

Shin megami tensei was actually the game that created the monster genre, not pokemon, pokemon and digimon took a lot of elements from this franchise.

First, humans dont capture digimon. You only get one. Second digimon dont fight for the sake of competing but for the sake of survival. If they dont view another Digimon as a threat they wont bother fighting it. Digimon live in a different universe than humans. Most Digimon are as intelligent if not more than most humans. Also Digimon has a huge focus on the interaction with Digimon and tamer that Pokemon lacks. Oh, and just so you know, Pokemon didnt invent the monster training genre.

1. No, starter Pokemon are just the first Pokemon you get and you can choose it. In Digimon games that is often not the case
2.You do know that that change alone already makes both series extremely different, right?
3. Friendship stat in Pokemon was pretty much worthless until X and Y, while in Digimon it was often the most important aspect. Dont compare.

Digimon has about as much in commen with Pokemon as it has with the demons of Inferno (the ones from Bayonetta) which I personaly found really funny.
Things Digimon has in common with Pokemon:

some of the monsters are really cute.
Things Digimon has in common with the Infernals:
They work together with humans .
They fight
Some digimon are kind of scary (Megidramon fore example) just like all Demons of Inferno
They are from another World that is conectet to the human world.
They have some really brutal kills under there belt.
ha Ha Ha oh caling Digimon a Pokemon Rip off is really a dumb thing. You might aswel call Yugioh a Pokemon rip of ore the summons of Final Fantasy.
Ore Calling babylon 5 a Stargate Ripoff. They both have space ships and aliens.
