Description
The Okimi guard is the militarized police force charged with royal security as well as interior policing. Since the unification of the island, the Okimi guard was the sole military-like formation allowed to function on Karafuto and up until 1893, when the Okimi expeditionary force was established following the first series of organised contacts with western powers, the sole formation under the jurisdiction of the Okimi and the Privy Council. The Okimi guard is the sole unit responsible for the stability of the interior, albeit it does not have any jurisdiction to function outside Karafutese land. Most members of the Guards of the throne and Officer Guards of the Throne come from the lower nobility, whilst commoners are allowed to ascend any position of the regular uniformed officers. Unlike the OEC, which stands under the jurisdiction of both the Emperor (Okimi) and Privy Council, the Okimi Guards is solely under the control of the Okimi of Karafuto.
