Description
This is a developmental version of a full sprite sheet for my project, “Super Mario Expanded” featuring 8-player capability. You can find Mario, as well as fully reworked sprites derived from the original NES title for Luigi, Wario, Waluigi, Peach, Daisy, and even Toad and Toadette. If you look closer, you’ll also be able to see a dev version of SpongeBob sprites, stylized to work with the limited palette of the NES as well as being matched to Mario’s hitbox. These sprites feature Small SpongeBob, comparable to Small Mario, Super SpongeBob, a medium transition SpongeBob sprite, and even Fire SpongeBob, who would shoot bubbles instead of fireballs, as related to the Bubble Wand powerup, which would replace the Fire Flower. The Krabby Patty powerup would also take place of the Super Mushroom, which makes SpongeBob grow, as well as don his Krusty Krab hat. I added SpongeBob as a sort of celebration of his 20th Anniversary, and if this project ever actually becomes a game, SpongeBob will likely be put in as an unlockable character. Note that this is NOT an actual playable game, and will likely not be in the near future. It’s just something I’m doing for fun.
