Description
It's too sexy not to show you guys. Not textured yet, this is just a paint over but you can get the idea.
This is the first capital class ship I've done for the Arkaedians - Morpheus, the counter point to Lor , is a particle shield-spinning, city sized baddass and will have an amazing backstory when I come round to releasing the art piece based on this.
For now though, if you have any requests on what type of scene you'd like me to feature this behemoth against, feel free to let me know.

It would be interesting to see this in context of larger or smaller constructions. Depending on the lore, you could have it over a superstructure, like the dyson ring β, or radius. Seen from within the atmosphere of the rings, it would have some degree of atmospheric haze, really selling the scale.
The other route would be to add some of its attendant fleet, flitting around it.

Yeah, there are lore restrictions to contend with. Basically, capital ships have the potential energy output of Yottawatts - IE, for this ship move around at a relatively sedate 1G, would use 10 times more energy than what we today, on planet earth, currently produce (10^15 watts) - and this is just a fraction of a fraction of the maximum combat power of a capital ship (10^25 watts)
Even if, these ships had 99% efficient anti-gravity or reactionless drives, the 1% of waste heat radiated would be like a continuous thermonuclear bomb.
Why? Well, these ships are massive, they are dense, they have few hollows, almost no moving parts, and are made completely out of strong force modified, carbons, silicas, metals and exotic materials. And with unlimited energy sources (with waste heat being the main restriction) - shit escalates...
In addition, warp drives tend to fail the closer you get to planetary gravity gradients... So... yeah... Being anywhere near a habitable world would be pretty harsh.
Yes, it would look cool to have this thing floating over manhattan, but maybe there's another way. These self imposed restrictions do force me to think up alternative, or sometimes original designs and work arounds. It can be baffling to others, for example explaining why I can't just put windows on ships to make them look bigger - but maybe in the end it might be worth while... hmmm
So I think i'm going to place it within a shipyard - using a nice telephoto lens, spiky structures and a cloud of meter scale construction drones around it installing new shield upgrades.
