#064: Cherange (Cherub + Cherish + Ange (French word for "angel"))

Description: This angelic creature loves to watch over people and Pokemon. However, they are also quite timid, so they tend to watch from afar. There is an old legend that says when a good-hearted person dies, they are re-incarnated as a CHERANGE.

Description: An ARKANGE will choose one person and watch over them for that person's entire life. Depending on the person's actions, it will either grant great happiness or great suffering.

It's been a while...yet again...but I'm back with a couple of Sapio Dex remakes for ya! This time, the subjects in question are my "archfiend" Pokemon (at least, that's what I considered them as), Demiend and Arfobien, now reborn as Cherange and Arkange!

In an effort to not only give them a more coherent design, but also integrate the new Fairy-typing into the dex, I've completely flipped the switch on their design, going from nightmarish demons into guardian angels! A drastic change, yes, but I like these designs a heck of a lot more!

Stat-wise, Cherange is more of a defensive Fairy-type, having decently high HP and Special Defense. It also boasts quite a few supporting moves in its movepool, such as Wish, Protect, Sing, Recover, Healing Wish, and even Heal Pulse via breeding. It can also fight back a little bit at this stage, as it has a Special Attack stat comparable to that of...say, Kirlia, and has moves like Psybeam, Draining Kiss, and Moonblast at its disposal, but for the most part, Cherange mainly works best as a supporter Pokemon.

After it evolves, however, where things get interesting. Upon exposure to a Dusk Stone, Cherange will evolve into the foreboding Archangel Pokemon, Arkange!

As Arkange, it's HP and Special Defense get very handsome boost, with decently high Defense to go along with that, so it able to tank hits quite nicely. It's Special Attack also gets a nice boost, meaning, while it's still not quite on the level of likes of Gardevoir or Alakazam, it's still enough for Arkange to deal some decent damage.

Arkange also gains a new Dark typing upon evolving, not only giving it the unique combo of Dark/Fairy, but also adding a handful of sinister moves into it's arsenal, such as Mean Look, Hex, Assurance, and Dark Pulse. It also now wields Perish Song and Destiny Bond, so if anyone tries to take Arkange down, it can also take them down with it. In terms of other moves it can learn, aside from Fly, Air Slash, and a couple Dark moves like Taunt and Embargo, it's overall movepool is very similar to that of Gardevoir's. Though, unlike Gardevoir, Arkange also has the added bonus of possibly having Serene Grace for it's ability, so that ought to be fun! ^_^
